Parks Tax & Consulting PLLC is a boutique tax practice based in Magnolia, Texas, serving clients with a high-touch, highly personalized approach. We specialize in expert tax preparation, strategic tax planning, bookkeeping-integrated tax support, and year-round client advisory services.
We are seeking a licensed Texas CPA to assist primarily with our “file and finish” tax clients. This role is ideal for an experienced tax professional who enjoys technical review, signing tax returns, mentoring preparers, providing client-facing support, and helping build strong internal systems as our firm continues to grow.
This position will begin at approximately 5–10 hours per week, with increased availability required during peak tax season. During peak season, approximately February 1 through May 1, this role requires availability of up to 40 hours per week.
This role can develop into a year-round full-time position if desired, but it can also remain a flexible part-time role for the right candidate.
Benefits & Compensation
- $45.00–$60.00 per hour, commensurate with experience and scope of responsibility

Location & Schedule
Our firm operates with a flexible hybrid structure. Candidates must be licensed CPAs in Texas and must be located in Texas, with strong preference for someone in Magnolia, The Woodlands, Houston, or the surrounding area.
The ideal candidate will be able to come into the office:
- Non-peak season: approximately 2–4 times per month, ranging from every other week to weekly
- Peak season: approximately 2 times per week
Remote work is available for a significant portion of the role, but this is not intended to be a fully remote position.
Primary Responsibilities
- Review and sign individual income tax returns, primarily Form 1040
- Assist with “file and finish” tax clients, including final review, issue spotting, documentation, and client-ready completion
- Supervise tax preparers on a limited basis
- Provide clear review notes, technical feedback, and practical training to preparers
- Help preparers strengthen judgment, documentation, accuracy, and efficiency
- Identify tax planning opportunities and risk areas during return review
- Assist with client consulting and advisory projects as needed
- Support client-facing planning work, not just generic tax preparation
- Communicate clearly with clients and internal team members regarding open items, tax issues, review comments, and return status
- Assist with development of internal SOPs, review processes, and training materials as the firm grows
- Support firm standards for accuracy, documentation, client service, responsiveness, and timely completion
- Assist with more complex tax matters depending on experience
Required Qualifications
- Active Texas CPA license required
- Minimum of 3 years of tax return signing experience, with a strong emphasis on individual income tax returns
- Strong experience reviewing and signing Form 1040 returns
- Strong technical tax knowledge and ability to identify issues during review
- Excellent computer skills
- Strong client service and client communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and manage deadlines
- Ability to supervise, train, and provide constructive feedback to preparers
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must be organized, dependable, responsive, and professional
- Must be located in Texas
- Must pass a background check
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience reviewing or signing Forms 1041, 1120S, and/or 1065
- 3–5+ years of Big 4, national, regional, or middle-market public accounting experience
- Experience with tax planning and client advisory work
- Experience with high-net-worth individuals, business owners, rental real estate, trusts, and closely held entities
- Experience with client-facing consulting
- Understanding of bookkeeping, month-end close, and how books flow into tax return preparation
- Ability to assist with bookkeeping review or book-close management for firm bookkeeping clients, though this is not required
- Experience with Xero and/or QuickBooks Online
- Experience helping develop internal procedures, review systems, training materials, or SOPs
- Experience working in a boutique, high-touch client service environment
