Saint Francis - Manchester is a non-profit Assisted Living Community at 65 West Clopton St., Richmond. We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, reliable, detail oriented, skilled, Full-time RN, Director of Nursing to lead our Clinical Care department and services. This role ensures that high-quality care is provided to residents by developing and maintaining care plans and ensuring regulatory compliance with healthcare standards. The DON is a key leader in providing compassionate and effective care, supporting the facility’s mission, and maintaining a safe and nurturing environment for residents. · Must possess leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other clinical care staff.

· Must demonstrate a willingness to work alternate shifts to cover the floor support the community as needed. On/ Call Support.

Salary starts at 90,000, competitive salary commensurate with experience and a generous FT benefit package.

Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Management, Resident Care, Regulatory Compliance & Documentation, Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement, Resource Management, Training & Development, Collaboration & Communication.

  • Lead and supervise nursing staff, including nurse managers and care coordinators, ensuring effective shift management and staffing levels.
  • Develop, implement, and review individualized care plans for residents, incorporating assessments of physiology and anatomy knowledge.
  • Oversee documentation review, medical records management, and ensure accurate and timely updates using EMR/EHR system (PointClickCare).
  • Ensure compliance with all VADSS regulations/licensing standards.
  • Coordinate resident care activities across assisted living, home health, hospice care, and therapy services as needed.
  • Conduct regular audits of medical documentation and review resident progress to maintain high standards of care.
  • Provide leadership in staff training, performance evaluations, and ongoing education to promote professional growth.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize resident outcomes and satisfaction.
  • Maintain a safe environment by adhering to safety protocols and managing risk associated with nursing practices.

Education: Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid license in the state of Virginia. CPR/AED and First Aid certification required. Additional certifications in geriatrics, healthcare management, or related fields are a plus.

Experience, Skills & Abilities: Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership or managerial role. Experience in an Assisted Living, Long-Term Care, or similar healthcare environment preferred. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. In-depth knowledge of nursing principles, state regulations, and industry best practices. Ability to work collaboratively with healthcare teams and families. Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Ability to manage budgets, resources, and staff schedules effectively.

  • Extensive experience in assisted living facilities or nursing homes.
  • Proven management and supervising experience within a healthcare setting.
  • Strong knowledge of nursing administration, medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and documentation review processes.
  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems and medical records management (PointClickCare).
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and regulatory compliance standards.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage shift operations effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop care plans tailored to individual resident needs while ensuring regulatory adherence.
  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with staff, residents, families, and external agencies.
