We are seeking a highly skilled and energetic Experienced EFDA (Expanded Functions Dental Assistant) to join our dynamic dental team. Responsibilities
- Assist the dentist during various procedures including restorative, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry treatments with precision and efficiency.
- Perform chairside assisting duties such as handing instruments, managing suction, and maintaining a sterile environment using aseptic techniques.
- Take high-quality X-rays and operate advanced medical imaging equipment like 3D scanners to support accurate diagnoses.
- Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize instruments in compliance with infection control protocols and OSHA standards.
- Manage patient records using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collect vital signs and medical histories to assist in comprehensive patient assessments.
- Support administrative tasks including scheduling, updating medical documentation, and managing medical records as a dental receptionist when needed.
- Demonstrate knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical coding to facilitate effective communication within the team.
Requirements
- Valid EFDA certification with proven experience in general dentistry settings; proficiency in pediatric dentistry is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of dental assisting procedures including chairside assisting, infection control, aseptic technique, and anatomy fundamentals.
- Experience operating EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; familiarity with Epic or similar platforms is a plus.
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures accurately while maintaining patient safety standards.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to medical documentation and patient confidentiality.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain procedures clearly to patients of all ages, especially pediatrics.
