Experienced Hospitality Server (with some bartending) – High-Volume Restaurant

We are seeking experienced hospitality servers who take pride in their craft and thrive in a high-volume restaurant environment. As we prepare for our very busy summer season, we are expanding our team with professionals who value teamwork, efficiency, and excellent guest service.

This position is best suited for servers who:

About the Role

Our servers operate with a high level of independence and are responsible for preparing their own drinks behind the service bar. Basic drink knowledge is helpful, though most guests primarily order bier and wine.

Job description:

Looking for part-time, dynamic Servers who are high-energy and love fast paced work, enjoy the people they work with, work together toward a common goal, have fun, and to work as a team! Must be a fast learner and have the ability to be quick moving. Our servers are also their own bartenders, so you'll need to have some basic drink-making knowledge. Don't worry though, we also have some cheat sheets and you'll have really helpful co-workers. Besides, most of our customers order Bier and Wine.
We offer an excellent and innovative, paid training program. Being available to work weekday and weekend lunch and dinner shifts, and work holidays are a must.

Job purpose

This is a Server position, with some bartending, as needed. Servers greet diners and engage in friendly conversation to cultivate the hospitable, welcoming environment of a family restaurant. Servers are knowledgeable about the food and beverages on the menu so they can explain dishes to guests and clarify any concerns about allergies or styles of food preparation.

Servers submit orders to the kitchen and bring food out to guests when it is ready, filling their drinks and checking on other tables in the meantime. They collect payment and make correct change, keeping track of receipts and tips. In addition to caring for guests, Servers help maintain a clean and sanitary environment by bussing dishes, sweeping floors, wiping menus and completing other tasks. We expect our Servers to be thorough and able to follow instructions.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Welcoming and seating diners comfortably in the dining section with a smile.
  • Taking customers’ food and drink orders.
  • Collaborating with the kitchen and bar staff for prompt and correct delivery of orders.
  • Memorizing all menus (Lunch, Dinner, Beer and Wine, Gluten Free and Weekend Brunch) and recommend appetizers, meals and drinks from restaurant wine stock. Highlight German options.
  • Delivering a memorable dining experience by resolving all customer issues promptly.
  • Assisting with the tidying of tables, clearing leftovers and keeping the dining area neat and pleasant.
  • Setting tables and rearranging the dining area to accommodate larger groups and parties; and prepare the restaurant for special events.
  • Balance guest relations and contact while serving multiple tables.
  • Handle multiple tables and tasks without losing concentration.
  • Look for what the customer may want/need before they ask.
  • Bring bread and butter upon arrival.
  • Refill drinks as needed, clear plates, keep table clean and organized for guests.
  • Know and recommend basic German and European Liquors.
  • Know and be able to make basic mixed beverages. (Cosmo, Gin/Tonic, Margarita)
  • Know the discounts that we offer, apply them appropriately.
  • Must be able to keep a mental “to do” list of tasks.
  • Keep busy; always look for something to do or someone to help. Work with fellow servers as a team. Never walk empty handed.
  • Good with money and able to learn the POS system.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must understand money, basic math - addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
  • Must be able to work POS (point of sales).
  • Must be able to work efficiently under pressure, at a fast pace, and as a team.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills.
  • High level of stamina to work on feet for extended periods, as well as navigate stairs.

Working Conditions

You will be expected to work holidays, weekends, lunches and evenings. Our servers must be flexible with their schedule to accommodate the needs of the customers and business. We have a patio, so you will be expected to work outside at times. Also, servers may have to go into the kitchen occasionally which could be hot. The plates may be hot when they come out. The bread pans will be hot when they come out of the oven. There can be wet or greasy floors creating slip hazards. You will be cutting fruit for the bar with a sharp knife.

Language Skills

  • Must possess the ability to communicate effectively (reading and writing) in the English language.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.

Pay: $25.00 - $40.00 per hour
