Experienced Hydrovac Technician

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Experienced Hydrovac Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will operate specialized hydrovac excavation equipment to safely and efficiently expose underground utilities, perform construction site preparation, and assist with various heavy equipment tasks. Your expertise will ensure projects are completed accurately, safely, and on schedule. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse construction and infrastructure projects, utilizing your mechanical knowledge and heavy equipment operation skills to make a tangible impact.

Responsibilities

• Operate hydrovac trucks and related equipment with precision, adhering to safety protocols and project specifications
• Perform excavation tasks by using water jets and vacuum systems to expose underground utilities or clear debris
• Assist with the operation of excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, water trucks, and dump trucks as needed on construction sites
• Conduct routine maintenance checks on all heavy equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety compliance
• Collaborate with project managers and crew members to plan excavation strategies and execute tasks efficiently
• Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), to maintain a safe work environment
• Document work activities accurately in reports and logs for project tracking and compliance purposes

Skills

• Strong mechanical knowledge of heavy equipment including excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, water trucks, dump trucks, tanker units, horizontal drilling rigs, and paving machinery
• Proven experience operating hydrovac units in construction or utility installation environments
• Valid commercial driver’s license with clean driving record; experience with commercial driving required
• Ability to operate heavy machinery such as Caterpillar equipment confidently and safely
• Hands-on experience working on construction sites with knowledge of site safety standards and procedures
• Familiarity with construction tools like bulldozers (dozer), graders, loaders, backhoes, water trucks, horizontal drilling equipment, tanker trucks, and paving machinery
• Knowledge of underground utility installation processes and related safety protocols
