Master Electrician
Reports to: Maintenance & Engineering Manager
Summary:
Peninsula Plastics Recycling, a division of the Merlin Group of Companies, is a plastics recycler and processor that specializes in the conversion of curbside PET bottles and containers from the California CRV system. With access to multiple streams of feedstock, Peninsula Plastics offers its Brand Customers ongoing infinitely recyclable and sustainable PET material helping to drive the Circular Economy. Its 180,000 square foot facility located in Turlock, CA produces an annual output of 60 million pounds of recycled PET flake and pellet that are FDA approved. The full-time dayshift position of Master Electrician is of extreme complexity requiring the ability to work and act both independently and with the collaboration of the Vice President of Operations. As Master Electrician you are required to be a highly skilled and experienced electrician who has completed extensive training and possess certification in the industrial electrical space. The individual chosen for this position will be a key Team Player and decision maker. He or She will be providing full electrical support to Peninsula Plastic Recycling’s industrial electric needs, playing an integral part in helping it achieve its 30% growth initiative over the next 2 years. Responsibilities:
· Come to work with a positive attitude and be prepared for a focused workday.
· Be an active participant of our Safety Team and practice safe work habits at all times.
· Train, delegate and mentor two Electromechanical Technicians.
· Responsible for the preparation, review, and approval of drawings, models, sketches, equipment lists, Bills of Materials, and manufacturing Work Instructions and/or SOP’s.
· Generate electrical engineering documentation and drawings to include: single line diagrams, panel layouts, electrical schematics, load lists, P&IDs, and assist Chief Automation Officer in the development of I/O and alarms lists.
· Conduct a comprehensive Risk Assessment of the current electrical system, develop an Action Plan and direct the execution of that plan.
· Stay up to date with the latest safety codes and regulations and ensure that all electrical work is performed in compliance with those standards.
· Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, conduit, raceways, switchgear, enclosures, and other electrical equipment and systems as needed.
· Inspect faulty electrical equipment and machinery, perform Root Cause Analysis, develop Corrective Action Plans and execute those plans to completion.
· Lead the optimization of the electrical preventative and predictive maintenance programs within a comprehensive CMMS cloud-based software program.
· Identify and source required permits, equipment, tools, and materials for projects.
· Provide assistance during facility emergencies.
· Liaise with Chief Automation Officer, Project Managers, vendors, contractors, permitting officials and inspectors.
· Other duties as required by management.
Requirements:
· Lead by example working safely and following PPR safety rules and regulations.
· Take action to prevent others from engaging in unsafe practices.
· Must possess a C-10 – Electrical Contractors certificate from the state of California.
· At least 7 years of experience as a Master Electrician.
· Must be able to wire 120v, 240v, 480v and low voltage control systems.
· Familiarity with Fiix, Maint, Manager Plus or similar CMMS software.
· Detail oriented, compliance minded, and keen interpersonal skills are necessary to perform effectively in the position.
· Proficiency with Single and Three phase power and wiring, AC, DC and Wye Start Delta Run motors, various OEM VFD’s, and control power.
· Basic PLC Ladder-Logic programming skills (preferred).
· Knowledge of NFPA, safety codes and standard practices and equipment and tools of the trade.
· Ability to effectively communicate and share your knowledge across the organization using superior verbal skills, presentations, and other modes of communication.
· Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Working Conditions:
· This is a day shift position in a manufacturing environment.
· Work involves exposure to seasonal elements and temperatures, chemicals, dirt, dust, fumes, and loud noises.
· Moderate physical activity. Requires physical work; lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. Physical work is approximately 50% of the job.
· Work environment involves exposure to materials and situations that require following safety precautions and may include the use of personal protective equipment.

Pay: $26.00 - $42.00 per hour
