Description
Experienced Mechanic at SV are responsible for:
- Maintaining, both preventive and corrective, Ride mechanical systems. Troubleshooting, inspecting, and repairing park equipment.
- Participating in testing, verification and/or calibration of applicable mechanical systems.
- Responding to downtimes with ride recovery related issues.
- Diagnosing system failures and providing immediate and long-term corrective action, which involves researching defective items/parts. This includes logical and extensive troubleshooting and referring to technical manuals while using a systematic approach.
- Performing modifications to ride vehicles as directed by the SV Maintenance Director/Owner/GM.
- Performing assembly and disassembly for annual inspections and verifying quality control/NDT requirements have been met.
- Logging completion of inspection, corrective action, and/or repairs made and listing applicable parts used.
- Understanding and actively participating in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established SV policies, procedures, and training.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
To perform the role of an Experienced Mechanic at SV successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

- Consistent attendance is a job requirement.
- High school degree or GED is required.
- Three to five years’ experience in troubleshooting and repair of complex electro-mechanical systems, as well as hydraulic and mechanical systems, gas, 2-cycle and diesel motors either in the theme park industry or other industrial industries; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Industrial electrical experience preferred but not mandatory
- Valid Illinois Driver's License with a clean driving record is required to operate company vehicles.
- Have or willing to obtain a CDL is a plus.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to perform these operations using units of the metric system and weight measurement, volume, and distance. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret spreadsheets. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions.
- Ability to use hydraulic/pneumatic schematics and mechanical blueprints during routine maintenance/troubleshooting helpful but not mandatory.
- Ability to understand machine prints with dimensions and tolerances as well as read and understand mechanical assembles and associated terminology helpful but not mandatory.
- Knowledge in welding: Mig, Tig, and Arc all helpful but not mandatory.
- Must be proficient in the use of common hand tools including torque wrenches.
- Should have own set of basic hand tools.
- Ability to follow precise manufacturers specs and follow their instructions.
The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential functions of the Ride Mechanic job.
- Individual must regularly climb to heights over 35 feet, occasionally over 100 feet.
- Individual will encounter working in a confined space on a semi-regular basis
- While performing the duties of this job, the individual is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; frequently required to stand, talk or hear; reach with hands and arms; and occasionally required to walk, sit, climb or balance, taste or smell.
- The individual must regularly lift 10 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include: Close Vision; Color Vision; Peripheral Vision; Depth Perception; Ability to Adjust Focus.
- Regular climbing to some heights. Safety equipment supplied to you for all aspects of climbing.`

- While performing the duties of this job, the individual is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and occasionally exposed to work in high, precarious places; wet, humid conditions (non-weather); fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outdoor weather conditions; risk of electrical shock; vibration.
