This position is for an Experienced Med Tech.
We are searching for a Med Tech to work as both a med tech and caregiver.
Scheduled: 2pm to 10pm various shifts including weekends.
Medication Tech:
- Administering medication to patients in accordance with their care plan
- Monitoring and recording patients’ symptoms and vital signs
- Reporting and documenting any changes in patients’ conditions to medical professionals
- Ensuring proper handling and storage of medication
- Refilling and organizing medication carts, as needed
- Maintaining inventory and ordering medication supplies
Additionally, you may also be called on to assist with other duties, such as helping patients with activities of daily living or providing emotional support.
Resident Care
- Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the community and shift.
- Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information including protected health information.
- Ensure that all caregiving tasks are provided in privacy.
- Answer call lights and knock before entering a resident’s room.
- Report any grievances and complaints made by the resident to your supervisor.
- Report incidents and all allegations of resident abuse to your supervisor immediately.
- Report occupational exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals to your supervisor.
Maintain Awareness of Resident
- Gain insight into resident needs and preferences by using listening skills, open ended questions and paraphrasing with residents and co-workers.
- Promote resident independence by encouraging them to remain independent in the areas where they are self-sufficient. Cue resident by encouraging and reminding them to participate in activities. Observe and report to the Wellness Director or Wellness Coordinator any change in resident’s physical or emotional status.
- Prevent abuse and neglect by being aware of signs and symptoms of abuse. Report abuse and neglect by filling out an incident report, alerting the immediate supervisor, and/or call Ombudsman. Assist with Hygiene and Dressing
- Assist resident with bowel/bladder needs and provide pericare according to residents’ preferences and service plan.
- Keep residents clean and dry (i.e. change gown, clothing, linen, etc., when it becomes wet or soiled.)
- Assist with resident bathing in a tub/shower. Assist resident with sponge or cloth bathing.
- Assist with special skin care to prevent decubitus ulcers.
- Turn resident in bed according to proper procedures to prevent sores.
- Assist resident with getting dressed and undressed.
- Assist resident with grooming including shaving, combing hair, and nail care (non- diabetic).
- Assist resident with care and use of eye glasses, hearing aids, and elastic stockings
- Assist resident with dental care including teeth brushing and denture care.
Personal Health
- Assist residents in preparing for medical tests (i.e., lab work, x-ray, therapy, dental, etc.). \
- Collect routine urine, stool and sputum specimens according to proper procedures.
- Accurately measure and record vital, including: temperature, oxygen saturation, weight, pulse, respiration and blood pressure as required.
- Assist resident with changing bandages or dressings as needed.

- Assist with the use of condom catheters and daily catheter care once delegated.
- Provide resident with back and leg rubs per resident need/request or as stated in service plan Mobility
- Redirect residents that are wandering.
- Assist resident in physical activity; including walking, standing, transfer and passive range of motion exercises.
- Provide support to resident by responding to requests for lifting, transferring and escorting. Provide transport support by using the Gait Belt, the Hoyer lift and by using multiple person lifting techniques. Household Assistance
- Make an occupied or unoccupied bed. Change bed linens. Keep linens tight to avoid wrinkles from forming under the resident.
- Assist resident with gathering, loading, folding and putting away of laundry.
- Assist resident with care of personal belongings by placing items in designated areas.
- Provide reading support to resident by reading letters, medical bill/information and calendars.
- Provide support to resident by answering phone calls and taking messages.
Food Service Functions
- Encourage resident in the nutritional needs by encouraging a balanced diet or adherence to a special diet.
- Prepare residents for meals (i.e., take to bathroom, wash hands, comb hair, position tables, place bibs, take to/from dining room, etc.).
- Serve and clean up after meals. Serve food trays as requested.
- Assist with feeding as indicated (i.e., cutting foods, feeding, assist in dining room supervision, etc.).
- May do light meal preparation.
- Record residents’ food/fluid intake as directed. Report any changes in the resident’s eating habits. Monitor intake and output and record all changes from the normal condition.
- Serve between meal and bedtime snacks.
- Perform after meal care (i.e., remove trays, clean resident’s hands, face, clothing, take to bathroom, brush teeth, clean dentures, etc.).
- Check rooms for food articles (i.e., food in proper container, unauthorized food items, etc.).
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.00 - $24.00 per hour
