Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Certified Medical Assistant with a minimum of 3 years’ experience to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care within an outpatient clinic setting. This position requires proficiency in medical terminology, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The Certified Medical Assistant will assist healthcare providers in delivering comprehensive care, ensuring that patients receive the best possible experience during their visits. This is a full-time position; we are open to part-time.

Duties

  • Assist with patient intake, including obtaining medical history reconcile medications, screenings, vital signs, and immunizations. Anticipating the provider’s needs.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures by explaining processes and ensuring comfort.
  • Assist with medical-surgical procedures.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation within electronic health systems.
  • Assist provider with daily visit encounters, orders, documentation, and dropping in diagnosis codes verbalized by the provider.
  • Schedule appointments and manage patient flow to optimize clinic efficiency.
  • Perform routine laboratory tests and prepare specimens for analysis.
  • Triage patient calls.
  • Call/portal message patient with lab/imaging results.
  • Medication refills/prior authorizations.
  • Imaging prior authorizations.
  • Educate patients on medication management, treatment plans, and preventive care.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals in internal medicine, emergency medicine, geriatrics, and other specialties to provide coordinated care.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized clinic environment.

Requirements

  • Certification as a Medical Assistant from an accredited program is preferred.
  • Proficient understanding of medical terminology relevant to outpatient care focused in family medicine.
  • Stable work history and verifiable employment references.
  • Basic knowledge of ICD-10 coding.
  • HIPPA Compliance.
  • EHR/EMR experience.
  • Experience in a clinical setting is required, particularly in Primary Care/Urgent Care.
  • Efficient with all Medical Assisting Duties, *i.e.: Venipuncture, injections, ekg, in-house specimen collection/processing (CLIA), vitals, assist in surgical procedures and gyn procedures, ear lavage, complete and efficient documentation, lab supply ordering, wide knowledge of medications, prior-authorizations, medical records, and care coordination.
  • Knowledge of basic life support techniques and emergency procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with providers, patients, and the healthcare team members.
  • The ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
