Responsibilities

  • Greet patients warmly and manage front desk operations with professionalism and enthusiasm
  • Schedule appointments accurately using EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks
  • Verify insurance coverage and benefits, including Medicare and Medicaid, ensuring proper authorization before services
  • Collect and process payments through medical billing and collection procedures while maintaining HIPAA compliance
  • Review documentation for accuracy and completeness, including care plans, medical records, and clinical notes
  • Perform insurance claims submission and follow-up using Tebra or similar practice management software
  • Maintain patient records meticulously within electronic health record (EHR) systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft
  • Handle multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette, providing clear communication to patients and providers
  • Assist with medical coding tasks such as CPT, ICD-9/10 coding to ensure precise billing and documentation
  • Support office management duties including filing, data entry, and managing office supplies to keep the clinic organized
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient information at all times

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar administrative role within a healthcare setting
  • Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix or Eaglesoft
  • Familiarity with medical billing processes, insurance verification, CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and Medicare procedures
  • Excellent understanding of medical terminology and documentation review standards
  • Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively
  • Prior clinic or dental office experience is preferred to navigate fast-paced environments smoothly
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), typing skills (including 10-key), and computer literacy essential for daily tasks
  • Exceptional customer service skills with professional phone etiquette and interpersonal communication abilities
  • Ability to handle sensitive information discreetly while maintaining high levels of accuracy in documentation review and data entry
  • Strong organizational skills with the capacity to manage multiple priorities efficiently in a busy office setting
