- Schedule patient appointments accurately using EMR systems such as Athenahealth, ensuring optimal clinic flow
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance verification, and facilitate authorization processes for procedures and treatments
- Manage and update electronic health records (EHR systems), ensuring all documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with HIPAA regulations
- Review medical documentation for completeness and correctness, including CPT coding, ICD-10 coding
- Handle multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette while providing excellent patient service
- Maintain organized medical records filing systems and assist with administrative support tasks such as insurance verification and data entry
- Assist with billing processes related to Medicare and other insurance providers, ensuring accurate medical collection procedures
- Support front desk operations by greeting patients, managing appointment scheduling changes, and providing exceptional customer service
- Utilize computer skills in Microsoft Office and specialized healthcare software to document interactions and manage clinic workflows
<Requirements>
- Proven experience as a Medical Scheduler or in a medical clinical setting
- Strong knowledge of EMR systems such as Athenahealth
- In-depth understanding of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-10 coding standards, and insurance verification processes
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently in a busy environment
- Prior medical scheduling office experience is required
- Proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Office suite; typing speed of 10-key is beneficial
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards to ensure confidentiality and security of patient information
- Exceptional phone etiquette skills combined with strong attention to detail in documentation review
