Experienced Nurse Practitioner – Outpatient Internal Medicine (Part-Time / Per-Diem)

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Experienced Nurse Practitioner specializing in Outpatient Internal Medicine to join our healthcare team on a part-time or per-diem basis. This role offers an opportunity to provide comprehensive primary care services, including chronic disease management, acute illness treatment, and health promotion within an outpatient setting, and be open to providing care in affiliated nursing home facilities when needed.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive clinical expertise, demonstrate proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic and eClinicalWorks, and have experience working with diverse patient populations across various healthcare environments. This position emphasizes patient-centered care, clinical evaluation, and collaborative practice to improve health outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history documentation.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients with acute and chronic conditions in internal medicine.
  • Perform procedures such as suturing, IV infusion, catheterization, venipuncture, and sterile processing following aseptic techniques.
  • Manage medication administration, injections, immunizations, and injections while ensuring adherence to HIPAA regulations.
  • Utilize EMR/EHR systems like eCliicalWorks, Epic for accurate documentation of patient encounters and medical records.
  • Coordinate diagnostic evaluations including laboratory tests, medical imaging, sonography, and specimen collection/processing.
  • Provide health coaching and education on disease prevention, nutrition, medication adherence, and lifestyle modifications.
  • Engage in telehealth services for remote patient management when applicable.
  • Participate in discharge planning, utilization review, case management, and working with patients with disabilities or developmental disorders.
  • Maintain compliance with infection control protocols and sterile processing standards during procedures such as spinal taps or gastroscopy.

Qualifications

  • Excellent people skills
  • Valid Nurse Practitioner license in Pennsylvania with current certification to practice in outpatient internal medicine or family medicine
  • Experience working in outpatient clinics
  • DEA and NPI required (or eligibility to obtain)
  • Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, eClinicalWorks; telehealth experience a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology (including psychopharmacology), CPT coding & ICD coding (ICD-9 & ICD-10), and medical terminology.
  • Excellent patient assessment skills combined with critical thinking for diagnostic evaluation and treatment planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Must pass background checks and drug screening prior to employment; compliance with all safety protocols is mandatory.
