Experienced Orthodontic Dental Assistant

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced energetic Orthodontic Dental Assistant to join our dental team. In this vital role, you will provide exceptional chairside support during orthodontic procedures, assist with patient care, and ensure the smooth operation of the orthodontic practice. Responsibilities

  • Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up orthodontic tools, and ensuring all necessary supplies are ready for procedures
  • Assist the orthodontist during various treatments, including bracket placement, wire adjustments, and appliance fittings, using four-handed dentistry techniques to maximize efficiency
  • Take and develop dental X-rays, including panoramic and 3D scans, ensuring proper positioning and adherence to infection control protocols
  • Manage patient records using Ortho Edge, documenting treatment details accurately and maintaining HIPAA compliance
  • Educate patients on orthodontic care instructions, appliance maintenance, and oral hygiene practices tailored for pediatric dentistry patients
  • Monitor vital signs when necessary and assist with medical imaging procedures to support comprehensive patient care
  • Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, verifying insurance coverage, and managing medical documentation as a dental receptionist

Skills

  • Proficiency in EMR systems like Ortho Edge for efficient record-keeping and documentation
  • Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques
  • Experience with dental assisting procedures including chairside assisting across general dentistry, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry
  • Ability to operate dental X-ray equipment safely and accurately while adhering to HIPAA regulations
  • Familiarity with dental coding and medical records management for comprehensive patient documentation
  • Knowledge of dental terminology related to pediatrics and orthodontics to facilitate effective communication with patients and team members
  • Skilled in using advanced dental technology such as 3D scanners for precise diagnosis and treatment planning
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to support a welcoming environment for children and their families
  • Ability to perform vital signs assessment and assist with infection control measures within the dental clinic setting

Pay: $23.00 - $28.00 per hour
