Position Title:

Experienced Personal Assistant/Life Skills Coach (Special Needs)

Schedule:
10 hours a week

Tuesday 10:00 am – 12:00pm

Wednesday 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

The remaining hours to be scheduled, might need to be some flexibility on days/times depending on client's work schedule. (If needed, hours can increase or consolidate them, client generally likes to work in small periods at a time)

Compensation:

$35/hour + mileage reimbursed at federal rate

Job Description:

We are seeking a personal assistant/life skills support coach for a 36 year old male client. The client's primary challenges are Autism and related Self-Care needs in his own apartment.

It would be helpful if the person is patient and understanding. In the event that the person ever goes on outings with the client, it would also be helpful if they were more like a peer.

Must own reliable vehicle, valid DL and clean driving record.

To build independent living skills, coach and mentor the basic housecleaning skills, both to help client and to upkeep his apartment. In addition, client would like help making healthy choices while sticking with his small budget when he goes grocery shopping. He could use help meal planning, as well as learning how to cook and meal prep.

The mother of the client will be helping/providing a guide to create his daily schedule, but it would be very helpful for the personal assistant to go over the schedule with him. And in terms of cooking, it would be both helpful for them to teach some light cooking step by step, but then meal prep on one of the days so that it could simply microwaved the rest of the week.

Key Qualifications/Skills:

• Comfortable with cleaning duties and shopping/household care.
• Assisting client with housecleaning and learning to keep the house clean with daily routines
• Decision making while grocery shopping
• Meal planning, prep and teaching basic cooking skill
• Good communication and ability to work with family.
• Reliable transportation for grocery and other errands.
• Soft skills: patient, encouraging, able to fade prompts and promote independence, good judgment
• Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities
• 2 References Required

Ideal Start Date: ASAP

Pay: $35.00 per hour
