Experienced Reporter/Staff Writer

Job Overview
The Valley Breeze is hiring a full-time, experienced reporter to join our family of community newspapers in northern Rhode Island. This person will be responsible for local stories on certain municipal beats each week, as well as working with the managing editor on editing of content, creation of special sections, and mentoring staff. The individual should understand why local news is important and know the role of a healthy news system in supporting thriving, well-informed communities. Prior experience in journalism is required. Strong writing skills, an ability to find stories that matter to people, and a keen sense of newsworthiness are all essential. Qualifications

• Proven experience in journalism or related writing roles with a strong portfolio of published work.
• Excellent writing skills with a keen eye for detail; proficiency in AP style is essential.
• Strong research skills and the ability to verify facts meticulously.
• Skilled in editing, copy editing, proofreading, and content management systems.
• Familiarity with social media management tools and strategies for audience engagement.
• Effective communication skills to collaborate across teams and interview sources confidently. Pay: From $55,000.00 per year
