Experienced Service Writer/Advisor

GTG Peterbilt – Davenport is a family-owned full service Peterbilt truck dealership serving eastern Iowa since 1973. We have worked hard to provide the trucking industry with the highest quality products, sold and serviced by dedicated people to provide the highest return for our customers.

We’re hiring an experienced Service Writer/Advisor to join our high-energy team in Davenport, IA! If you thrive on helping customers, solving problems, and keeping operations running smoothly, this role is for you. You will be the first point of contact for service customers—greeting them, understanding their concerns, and coordinating seamlessly with our service department to ensure an exceptional experience from start to finish.

Requirements:

• Open and close work orders providing as much information as possible.
• Record, adjust and report mechanics time for work orders and payroll.
• Help cover phone calls for the Service Department.
• Try to resolve customer complaints.
• Schedule appointments.
• Assist with warranty repair order flow.
• Consult with the parts department on special order parts and sublet repairs.
• Instruct the following shift’s service writer on any special instructions and appointments.
• Keep Service Manager informed of all customer complaints and technician problems.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Must have strong customer service skills.
• Must have general computer knowledge.
• Must pass pre-employment background check and drug screen.

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
• A college degree or a certificate/degree from a trade school is preferred but not required.
• Combination of education, training, or experience providing the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
