The CTVS Staff Nurse provides specialized nursing care to patients undergoing cardiothoracic and vascular surgeries. The role includes pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care, continuous monitoring in ICU settings, and ensuring adherence to clinical protocols for critically ill patients.
1. Pre-Operative Care
- Assess and prepare patients scheduled for CTVS procedures.
- Verify consent forms, investigations, and pre-op checklist.
- Educate patient and family about surgical procedures and recovery expectations.
2. Intra-Operative Support
- Assist the surgical team during cardiothoracic and vascular surgeries as required.
- Ensure availability and sterility of instruments, equipment, and consumables.
- Maintain strict aseptic precautions.
3. Post-Operative ICU Care
- Receive and stabilize post-operative CTVS patients in ICU.
- Monitor vital signs, hemodynamic parameters, ventilator settings, drains, and chest tubes.
- Manage central lines, arterial lines, pacing wires, IV infusions, and inotropes.
- Provide wound care and monitor for signs of infection or complications.
- Administer medications as per protocols and physician orders.
4. Qualifications & Requirements
- GNM / B.Sc Nursing.
- Minimum 1–3 years of experience in CTVS / Cardiac ICU preferred.
- Strong clinical skills in managing critical cardiac patients.
- Knowledge of ventilators, invasive monitoring, and cardiac medications.
- Ability to work in high-pressure, emergency environments.
