Expert - Operations Support Systems

This role is based in Muscat, Oman.

About the Role

The Expert – OSS Systems is responsible for the end-to-end administration, performance, stability, and continuous enhancement of ZOI’s OSS platforms. The role leads and supports integration across Northbound and Southbound interfaces, ensuring seamless, accurate, and reliable data exchange between network elements, operational platforms, and enterprise systems.

The role requires strong hands-on experience with the NMSWorks platform, supported by solid expertise in telecom OSS architecture, system integration, automation, and platform operations. Proven experience managing OSS or telecom systems in cloud-based environments, preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP), is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

OSS Platform Administration & Operations

• Own and manage the full lifecycle of OSS platforms, including deployment, configuration, upgrades, patching, and maintenance.
• Ensure high availability, performance, stability, and reliability of OSS systems.
• Monitor system health, alarms, KPIs, and platform performance to proactively identify risks and issues.
• Lead troubleshooting, incident resolution, and root cause analysis for OSS-related issues.

System Integration Management

• Design, implement, and support Northbound interfaces with BSS, data warehouses, reporting tools, APIs, and enterprise platforms.
• Manage and maintain Southbound interfaces with network elements, probes, mediation platforms, and related telecom systems.
• Ensure integrity, accuracy, and continuity of real-time and batch data flows across integrated systems.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to resolve interface issues and optimize end-to-end system performance.

NMSWorks Platform Administration

• Administer, configure, and support the NMSWorks OSS platform to meet operational and business requirements.
• Perform system customization, workflow configuration, and functional enhancements within NMSWorks.
• Lead platform upgrades, patch deployments, and vendor coordination related to NMSWorks.
• Troubleshoot platform-specific issues and ensure optimal utilization of system capabilities.

Automation, Optimization & Cloud Enablement

• Drive automation initiatives across OSS workflows and operational processes to improve efficiency and service quality.
• Identify opportunities to enhance operational performance using scripting, orchestration, AI-enabled tools, and cloud-native capabilities.
• Support CI/CD, infrastructure automation, and system standardization where applicable (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, scripting frameworks).
• Optimize cloud resource utilization, performance, and cost in collaboration with relevant teams, with awareness of FinOps principles.
• Support digital transformation and continuous improvement initiatives across Technology & Operations.

Education / Certifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Telecommunications Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline
• Relevant certifications in cloud platforms, Linux, system integration, or telecom OSS / NMS environments are an advantage

Experience

• Minimum 5–7 years of relevant experience in OSS administration, telecom systems, or system integration within a telecom or service provider environment
• Proven experience managing and supporting OSS platforms in live telecom operations
• Strong hands-on experience with NMSWorks is required
• Experience working in cloud-based or hybrid infrastructure environments, preferably GCP, is highly preferred
• Experience in automation, scripting, and operational optimization within OSS / NOC / systems environments is an advantage

Knowledge / Technical Skills

• Strong understanding of telecom OSS architecture, operational support systems, and network management ecosystems
• Proven experience in system integration, including APIs, REST, SOAP, mediation, messaging frameworks, and data exchange protocols
• Strong knowledge of Northbound and Southbound interfaces in telecom environments
• Hands-on experience administering and supporting the NMSWorks OSS platform
• Good working knowledge of Linux environments, SQL / NoSQL databases, and scripting languages such as Python and Shell
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (preferably Google Cloud Platform – GCP), virtualization, and containerized deployments is preferred
• Exposure to automation, orchestration, and infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines) is an advantage
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capability in complex telecom system environments
