The Fire Explorer Program provides opportunities for actively enrolled high school aged individuals (15-18) who are interested in learning/exploring different careers. Clackamas Fire District believes that Exploring is a first and crucial step in beginning the journey to becoming a professional firefighter. Clackamas Fire District is committed to providing our Fire Explorers with the most realistic experience possible.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
The Fire Explorer Program is designed and will function similar to a Fire Science/Fire Academy, and will focus on the following areas: Application/Interview ProcessBasic Firefighter SkillsAcademic RequirementsAdvancement ProcessResume BuildingPublic RelationsEmergency ResponseCrew Dynamics/InteractionThe goal of the program is to provide members with a basic understanding of the fire service and to prepare them for the next step, which may be: Resident, Student, and/or Volunteer FirefightingCollege Level Fire Science ProgramsEMT/Paramedic ProgramsOther ActivitiesFirefighting is a very physically and mentally demanding profession that requires individuals to rely on one another for support and encouragement. To reinforce the teamwork and camaraderie, Fire Explorers will be encouraged to participate in activities off the fire ground and out of the classroom. Some of the activities may include: Annual Safety FairOperation Santa ClausSandy Mt. Festival Sandy Kiwanis Sportsman's Breakfast
