Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Expressive Art Therapist to join our dedicated mental health and wellness team.The Nautilus Center for Mental Health is a new IOP/PHP program in Franklin, MA. In this role, you may utilize various creative modalities—including drawing, painting, sculpture, writing, music, movement, video making, etc.—to support individuals ages 13-17 in expressing themselves, self-managing emotions, and achieving personal growth. Your expertise will help foster resilience, relationships and recovery in affected by mood disorders and medically stable personality disorders diverse populations, as well as individuals with autism spectrum disorder. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to create a new expressive arts program within a day treatment setting. You can make a meaningful impact through innovative therapeutic approaches that blend creativity with clinical practice.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement individualized expressive art therapy plans tailored to clients’ needs and goals
  • Facilitate both individual and group therapy sessions utilizing expressive modalities to promote emotional expression and mental health recovery
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care plans while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality and medical documentation standards
  • Maintain accurate medical records and document client progress in accordance with healthcare regulations and CPT coding requirements for billing purposes
  • Engage clients with behavioral health challenges—including autism, disabilities, addiction recovery issues, or trauma—using evidence-based therapeutic techniques
  • Provide education and support to families and caregivers to reinforce therapeutic goals outside of sessions as needed
  • Monitor client responses during therapy sessions and adjust approaches as needed to optimize outcomes while ensuring a physically and emotionally safe environment for all participants

Skills

  • Strong background in mental health and behavioral therapy techniques combined with expertise in working with adolescents
  • Proficiency in mental health counseling methods including individual and group therapy modalities
  • Knowledge of medical documentation practices, HIPAA compliance, CPT coding for billing purposes, and management of medical records
  • Skilled in utilizing expressive modalities effectively across diverse populations
  • Ability to collaborate within multidisciplinary teams while maintaining a compassionate approach to patient care
  • Excellent communication skills to engage clients of varying ages and backgrounds while fostering a supportive therapeutic environment
