Core duties and responsibilities
- System assembly: Cut, bend, weld, and connect pipes and fittings to construct a complete and leak-proof pipeline system.
 - Inspection and testing: Conduct visual and electronic inspections to identify any damage, leaks, or defects in the pipeline. Perform pressure tests to ensure the system is leak-free and operating safely.
 - Maintenance and repair: Respond to emergency calls and perform regular and emergency maintenance tasks on pipelines.
 - Documentation: Maintain detailed records of all inspections, repairs, and installations. Accurately complete and submit paperwork such as timesheets and material lists.
 - Equipment operation: Safely operate a variety of tools and machinery, from welding equipment and saws to heavy construction vehicles.
 - Safety procedures: Adhere to all health and safety standards by conducting risk assessments, following safety protocols, and using personal protective equipment (PPE).
 
Skills and qualifications
- Experience: Prior experience in pipeline installation, pipefitting, or a related construction trade is required.
 - Technical knowledge: Strong understanding of pipeline systems, relevant construction methodologies, and safety regulations. Familiarity with blueprints and technical specifications is essential.
 - Physical fitness: The role demands physical strength and stamina for lifting heavy materials, digging trenches, and working for long periods in various weather conditions.
 - Attention to detail: A high degree of precision is critical for inspecting pipes, identifying potential issues, and ensuring leak-free connections.
 - Problem-solving: The ability to diagnose complex issues and implement effective, timely solutions, especially during emergency repairs.
 - Communication: Strong communication skills to coordinate with team members, supervisors, and, in some cases, clients.
