Job Summary
We are looking for a personable, friendly, and energetic person to join our team. We are a new private practice optometry clinic and will have an optical and offer in-office finishing.
The ideal candidate will assist patients with selecting eyewear, perform optical measurements with the help of an Optikam, and support clinical staff in providing exceptional eye care services. This role requires an understanding of optics, medical terminology, and retail sales, with experience in optical environments. The optician/optical sales staff will play a vital role in ensuring accurate patient records, managing eyewear inventory, and delivering personalized service to diverse patient populations, including pediatrics and senior care.
Some frame/lens sales experience preferred. Expect a slightly slower paced environment at first and a tight knit, small staff as well as a good work life balance with patient continuity.
Will offer hourly rate and performance based bonuses.
Days are Mon / Tues (Flexible at this time) / Wed / Fri (Shorter day) / Sat (Short day)
Scheduled days have some flexibility as we are a new business
Responsibilities
- Assist patients in selecting appropriate eyewear based on prescriptions, lifestyle needs, and personal preferences.
- Take precise measurements for lens fitting, including pupillary distance and frame adjustments with the assistance of an Optikam
- Educate patients on lens options, frame styles, and proper eyewear maintenance.
- Manage optical inventory, including ordering supplies and tracking stock levels.
- Support retail sales efforts by providing excellent customer service and upselling appropriate products.
- Assist with laboratory tasks such as lens edging or repairs.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers on medical coding and billing processes related to optical services.
Requirements
- Prior experience in optical settings or ophthalmology clinics preferred; laboratory experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with EHR systems such as Revolution
- Strong retail management skills including retail math and sales techniques.
- Ability to communicate effectively to patients of all ages, including pediatrics and seniors.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in record keeping and inventory management.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team while providing outstanding customer service. Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour
