We have been in business since 1992, operating both flight schools and full-service FBOs at multiple locations in Virginia and Florida. We have served as the FBO at Hanover County Airport since June 2004. We hold FAA approvals for Part 141 and Part 145 limited repair station avionics, serve as the flight training affiliate for a university aviation degree program, and are fully VA approved for all Part 141 courses. Our goal is the safe completion of every course we offer—first time, on time, and on budget. We are seeking an experienced, highly motivated, and FAA-qualified Chief Flight Instructor to lead and grow our flight training department in accordance with all applicable FAA regulations.

Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated FAA-Qualified Chief Flight Instructor to lead our flight training operations with enthusiasm and expertise. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the development and delivery of comprehensive flight training programs, ensuring all instruction aligns with Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and industry best practices. Your leadership will inspire a team of instructors and students alike, fostering a dynamic learning environment that emphasizes safety, professionalism, and excellence in aviation education. Duties

  • Lead and manage the flight training department, ensuring compliance with FAA regulations and company policies
  • Develop, review, and update curriculum materials to enhance instructional effectiveness and meet regulatory standards
  • Conduct and oversee flight training sessions, providing direct instruction and mentorship to students
  • Evaluate instructor performance and provide ongoing coaching to maintain high teaching standards
  • Ensure all aircraft are properly maintained, inspected, and operated safely during training activities
  • Facilitate communication between students, instructors, maintenance teams, and management to promote a cohesive training environment
  • Organize classroom sessions on topics such as aircraft systems, Federal Aviation Regulations, navigation, meteorology, and emergency procedures
  • Promote safety awareness through regular briefings, safety audits, and incident investigations
  • Support multilingual instruction efforts to accommodate diverse student backgrounds
  • Assist in recruiting, onboarding, and working with students from military backgrounds or other specialized groups

Experience

  • Extensive experience in aviation with a strong background in flight instruction and curriculum development
  • FAA Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) with current certification as a Chief Flight Instructor (CFII or MEI preferred)
  • Deep knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), aircraft operations, airframe systems, and aircraft maintenance procedures
  • Proven ability to teach effectively across different skill levels with excellent communication skills and public speaking abilities
  • Classroom experience combined with hands-on flight instruction in various aircraft types
  • Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds including military personnel or multilingual learners
  • Strong leadership skills demonstrated through previous supervisory roles in aviation or related fields

Pay: $90,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
