Warehouse Fabric Manager – Roles & Responsibilities1. Inventory Management
- Oversee receipt, storage, and issuance of fabrics.
- Maintain accurate stock records (meters/yards, rolls, lots, shades, GSM, etc.).
- Monitor fabric aging, damage, shrinkage, and dead stock.
- Conduct regular stock audits and physical verifications.
- Ensure proper labeling, tagging, and barcode systems.
2. Fabric Inspection & Quality Control
- Supervise incoming fabric inspection (shade variation, defects, shrinkage, width, color fastness).
- Ensure compliance with quality standards and buyer specifications.
- Coordinate with QA/QC teams for rejection or replacement of defective materials.
- Maintain inspection reports and documentation.
3. Storage & Handling
- Ensure fabrics are stored according to type (woven, knit, delicate, heavy rolls).
- Maintain proper environmental conditions (humidity, temperature).
- Implement FIFO (First In, First Out) or FEFO where required.
- Prevent damage from moisture, pests, and mishandling.
4. Production Coordination
- Coordinate with production, cutting, and planning departments.
- Ensure timely availability of fabric as per production schedules.
- Manage fabric allocation for different orders and styles.
- Monitor fabric consumption vs. standard usage.
5. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain GRNs (Goods Receipt Notes), issue slips, and dispatch records.
- Prepare stock reports (daily, weekly, monthly).
- Track fabric movement and reconcile discrepancies.
- Update ERP or warehouse management systems.
6. Team Supervision
- Supervise warehouse staff (storekeepers, helpers, loaders).
- Assign daily tasks and monitor performance.
- Train staff on fabric handling and safety procedures.
- Ensure discipline and adherence to company policies.
7. Safety & Compliance
- Ensure warehouse safety standards are followed.
- Maintain fire safety systems and emergency procedures.
- Comply with company policies and industry regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness and organized storage layout (5S system).
8. Cost Control & Optimization
- Minimize fabric wastage and losses.
- Monitor stock turnover ratios.
- Optimize warehouse space utilization.
- Recommend process improvements.
9. Vendor & Logistics Coordination
- Coordinate with suppliers for fabric delivery schedules.
- Handle returns or claims for damaged fabric.
- Work with logistics teams for dispatch planning.
