The Textile Fabric Sourcing Manager is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and managing suppliers of woven, knit, and specialty fabrics to meet the company’s quality, cost, and delivery objectives. This role involves strategic sourcing, vendor management, cost negotiation, and ensuring fabric availability aligns with design, production, and merchandising timelines.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Fabric Sourcing & Procurement
- Identify and qualify new fabric mills and suppliers globally.
- Develop sourcing strategies to meet seasonal and long-term fabric needs.
- Evaluate fabric quality, performance, and compliance with brand standards.
- Source sustainable and innovative fabrics in alignment with company goals.
- Manage end-to-end procurement from sample request to bulk delivery.
2. Vendor & Supplier Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with mills and agents.
- Negotiate pricing, minimums, payment terms, and lead times.
- Monitor supplier performance regarding quality, delivery, and responsiveness.
- Conduct regular supplier audits and performance reviews.
3. Costing & Budget Control
- Analyze market trends and cost structures for fabrics and raw materials.
- Prepare cost comparisons and recommendations for fabric selection.
- Support product development teams with accurate and timely costing data.
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with design, product development, production, and quality teams.
- Ensure fabrics meet design aesthetics and technical requirements.
- Coordinate fabric testing, approvals, and bulk color matching.
5. Compliance & Sustainability
- Ensure all fabrics meet environmental, social, and compliance standards.
- Source and promote eco-friendly, recycled, and certified materials (e.g., GOTS, Oeko-Tex, Bluesign).
- Stay updated on sustainability innovations and market shifts in textiles.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Textile Engineering, Fashion Technology, or related field.
- 5–10 years of experience in fabric sourcing, preferably in apparel or home textiles.
- Strong knowledge of textile constructions, finishes, and production processes.
- Proven negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Excellent communication and analytical abilities.
- Proficiency in PLM, ERP, or sourcing software systems.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
