Fabrication Shop Manager

ASHBA Studios, a dynamic scenic fabrication company, is seeking an experienced and highly versatile Shop Foreman to lead our production team. The ideal candidate is a multi-disciplinary expert with exceptional leadership skills, capable of overseeing all shop operations, maintaining quality, and ensuring projects are delivered on time and within specifications.

Core Responsibilities

• Supervision & Leadership: Directly oversee and manage shop staff, including fabricators and artisans, ensuring a safe, efficient, and organized work environment.
• Production Management: Maintain production schedules, allocate resources, and monitor project progress to meet deadlines and quality standards.
• Project Execution: Initiate, plan, and execute projects from conception to final completion, maintaining the highest quality of structural integrity and fine detail finish work.
• Design Interpretation: Read and interpret CAD designs and technical drawings to translate concepts accurately into fabricated pieces.
• Materials & Procurement: Create detailed and accurate materials lists for each project and coordinate with procurement to ensure timely delivery of necessary supplies.
• Apprentice Training: Develop and implement training programs for apprentices and junior staff in various fabrication techniques, ensuring the transfer of specialized skills and knowledge.
• Quality Control: Conduct in-process and final inspections to ensure all fabricated items meet specifications, aesthetic requirements, and safety standards.

Required Skills & Qualifications

The successful candidate must be equally proficient across multiple materials and fabrication disciplines:

• Multi-Discipline Proficiency: Expert-level capability in working with wood, metal, fiberglass, and plastics.
• Fabrication & Construction: Comprehensive knowledge and hands-on expertise in all aspects of fabrication, from structural build-outs to fine detail finish work, including:
• Carpentry and Construction
• Welding (various methods)
• Mold making and Casting
• Sculpting and Artistic Finishes
• Advanced Tool Operation:
• Proficiency in operating a CNC cutter for precise material processing.
• Experience using a 3D printer for prototyping and final component fabrication.
• Experience: A minimum of [Insert Desired Number, e.g., 3-5] years of experience in scenic fabrication, construction, or a related field, with demonstrated experience in a supervisory or foreman role.
