Commercial Door and Frame Fabricator
Position Summary
The Fabricator is responsible for the production, modification, and assembly of commercial hollow metal doors and frames in accordance with specifications, shop drawings, and quality standards. This role involves working with hollow metal materials, structural components, and fabrication equipment to ensure precise, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
- Fabricate hollow metal doors and frames using established processes and shop drawings.
- Operate fabrication equipment such as welders, grinders, saws, presses and punches.
- Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and technical drawings.
- Measure, cut, bend, and assemble metal components with precision.
- Perform MIG welding and ensure clean, structurally sound welds.
- Prep materials for fabrication, including layout, marking, and staging.
- Inspect finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies.
- Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and quality control personnel.
- Assist with custom fabrication projects as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 3+ years of metal fabrication experience (hollow metal experience preferred).
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Experience with fabrication tools and machinery.
- Welding experience (MIG required; TIG a plus).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 75-100 lbs regularly
- Standing, bending, and lifting for extended periods
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
- Ability to work in a manufacturing/shop environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a commercial door and frame fabrication shop.
- Knowledge of hardware prep (hinges, locks, closers, reinforcements, etc.).
- Familiarity with industry standards and specifications (e.g., ANSI, BHMA).
- Proficient math and measurement skills.
Work Environment
- Manufacturing/shop setting.
- Exposure to noise, dust, and metalworking equipment.
- PPE required and provided (gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.)
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
