Fabricator & Field Installer

About the Iron Shop

The Iron Shop is Work Shop Colorado’s in-house metal fabrication studio, producing custom architectural metalwork for our own luxury homes, outside builders, and direct clients. Railings, staircases, structural elements, custom components—every piece is built to spec, start to finish, in our northwest Denver shop.

We’re a small, skilled crew. The work is custom, the clients are discerning, and the standard is high. That’s the environment this role lives in.

The Role

This is a hybrid position built for someone who is equally comfortable in the shop and on a jobsite. You’ll spend the majority of your time installing finished metalwork at client homes and active construction sites. When the install schedule slows, you flex back into the shop—working the fab table, operating the saw, and supporting production wherever you’re needed most.

You’ll be reading drawing sets, solving problems on-site, communicating directly with clients during installs, and taking ownership of your work from delivery through punch list. Install experience is a plus, not a prerequisite—we’ll train you. What we need is someone who already knows how to fabricate, works clean, and takes pride in the finished product.

What You’ll Do

  • Install finished Iron Shop pieces on active jobsites and in client homes, including railings, staircases, structural metalwork, and custom components
  • Flex into shop production when install is light—saw operation, MIG welding, Grinding, finishing, fitting & tacking assemblies, and general fabrication support
  • Review drawing sets and verify all pieces, hardware, equipment, and safety gear are ready before leaving for a site
  • Perform quality control on your own work, both in the shop and in the field
  • Communicate professionally with clients during installs when needed—you’re representing the Iron Shop at their home
  • Update project status in Monday.com with photos at the end of each day
  • Operate grinder, MIG welder, screw gun, tape measure, level, and other standard tools
  • Maintain a clean, safe work environment in people’s homes and in the shop

Required Qualifications

  • Proficient MIG welder—not just familiar, efficient and consistent
  • Shop fabrication experience: you’ve worked metal, read drawings, and solved problems on your own
  • Valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle (mileage reimbursement provided)
  • Ability to communicate clearly in English, written and verbal
  • Physically capable of lifting 100+ lbs and pushing/pulling carts or materials weighing up to 150 lbs with assistance
  • Comfortable working at heights safely
  • Hand and finger dexterity for operating tools and equipment
  • Basic tech proficiency—ability to take photos, update a project board, and respond to email
  • Your own basic hand tools preferred (tape, square, etc.)—major equipment is provided

Preferred Qualifications

  • Field installation experience (especially architectural metalwork, railings, or millwork)
  • TIG welding capability
  • Forklift or telehandler certification
  • Familiarity with construction codes and jobsite coordination
  • Monday.com or similar project management platform experience

Beyond the technical checklist, we’re hiring for character. Here’s what stands out to us:

  • Ownership-
  • You treat every project like your name is on it—because here, it is.
  • Professionalism-
  • You’re presentable, reliable, and easy to have in someone’s home.
  • Problem Solving-
  • The drawing never matches the field perfectly. You figure it out.
  • Quality-
  • You self-check your own work. You notice what’s off before anyone else does.
  • Communication-
  • Clear with the team, professional with clients, honest when something’s wrong.
  • Team Player.-
  • The shop wins together. You step in where needed without being asked.

Schedule & Compensation

  • Full-time, 40 hours per week
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM
  • Overtime available, especially during heavy install periods
  • $25–$33/hr depending on experience
  • Mileage reimbursement for driving to job sites

Benefits & Perks

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance

  • Company happy hours, BBQ’s and holiday parties
  • Exposure to a wide range of clients, project types, and all trades on active jobsites
  • Growth path into site supervisor or field management roles for the right person

Work Environment

This role moves between three settings: the Iron Shop (exposure to noise from welding, grinding, and metal fabrication machinery; dust, metal particles, and temperature variance), active indoor and outdoor construction jobsites, and client homes. PPE is provided—safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection. Steel-toe footwear is required.

How to Apply

Submit your resume via Indeed.
