Job Description – Façade Engineer (Aluminium & Glazing)

1. Role Purpose

The Façade Engineer is responsible for the design, engineering, technical coordination, and execution of aluminium and façade systems including curtain walls, unitized façades, semi-unitized systems, skylights, ACP cladding, aluminium doors/windows, and glazing works. The role ensures all façade solutions meet structural, aesthetic, thermal, and performance standards while aligning with project specifications and manufacturing capabilities.

2. Key ResponsibilitiesEngineering & Design

• Develop engineering designs, calculations, and technical details for aluminium and façade systems as per project requirements.
• Prepare and review shop drawings, fabrication drawings, installation details, and material take-offs.
• Ensure designs comply with project specifications, façade performance criteria, thermal requirements, and industry codes (ASTM, EN, BS).
• Collaborate with design teams to translate architectural intent into feasible façade engineering solutions.
• Verify structural adequacy of façade components in coordination with structural consultants when needed.

Technical Coordination

• Coordinate with consultants, architects, contractors, and internal production teams to finalize façade system details.
• Prepare and review technical submittals, mock-up details, samples, and performance test documentation.
• Attend technical meetings, design workshops, and site coordination meetings.
• Ensure timely approval of drawings and technical documents for fabrication and installation.

Manufacturing & Production Support

• Provide clear technical input to production teams for fabrication of aluminium profiles, glass, gaskets, and accessories.
• Ensure all designs align with factory capabilities, machining constraints, and material specifications.
• Review fabrication feasibility and optimize designs for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Site & Installation Support

• Support installation teams by providing technical clarification and detailed installation methodologies.
• Conduct periodic site inspections to ensure installation accuracy according to approved drawings and engineering standards.
• Resolve site-related engineering issues and provide corrective guidance where required.

Quality & Compliance

• Ensure façade systems meet structural integrity, waterproofing, thermal performance, and acoustic requirements.
• Validate compliance with local UAE regulations, international façade standards, and project-specific specifications.
• Support testing processes such as air/water infiltration tests, structural tests, and thermal simulations (as applicable).

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain organized documentation for all engineering work, revisions, and approvals.
• Prepare technical reports, engineering studies, material usage reports, and design-related assessments.

3. Experience & QualificationExperience

• 3–6 years of experience in façade engineering within the aluminium, glazing, or façade manufacturing industry.
• Experience with curtain walls, unitized façades, ACP cladding, skylights, and aluminium doors/windows is essential.
• Strong exposure to UAE façade projects and consultant coordination is preferred.
• Understanding of material behavior, structural loads, thermal dynamics, and façade system performance criteria.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related field.
• Certifications in façade engineering or related software (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD, Staad Pro, Therm) are an advantage.

4. Skills & Competencies

• Ability to read and interpret architectural & structural drawings

5. Additional Requirements

• Knowledge of international façade standards (ASTM, BS, EN)
• Familiarity with performance testing (air, water, structural, thermal)
• Ability to work closely with cross-functional teams (design, production, QA/QC, site)
• UAE driving license is an advantage

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: AED5,000.00 - AED6,000.00 per month
