Facade Engineer – Building Contracting Company
The Facade Engineer in a contracting company is responsible for the execution, coordination, and installation of facade systems on-site. The role bridges design and construction, ensuring that facade works are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and as per approved drawings and specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Review IFC (Issued for Construction) drawings and facade design packages
- Coordinate with consultants, architects, and facade subcontractors
- Manage shop drawings, material submittals, and method statements
- Oversee fabrication and installation of facade systems:
- Curtain walls
- Aluminum cladding
- Glass systems
- Louvers and architectural features
- Ensure compliance with project specifications and local authority requirements (e.g., Dubai Municipality)
- Monitor site progress and ensure alignment with project schedule
- Conduct inspections and ensure QA/QC procedures are followed
- Coordinate and witness facade performance testing:
- Water tightness
- Air infiltration
- Structural performance (mock-up testing)
- Identify and resolve site issues, RFIs, and technical challenges
- Coordinate with procurement for material delivery and approvals
- Ensure HSE compliance during facade installation
