The Facilities & Grounds Maintenance Technician performs a wide variety of skilled and semi-skilled work to maintain district school buildings, grounds, and equipment. This position supports both interior building systems and exterior site infrastructure to ensure safe, functional, and well-maintained learning environments. The technician also provides custodial support during emergencies, staffing shortages, or special events as needed.
- Maintain and repair restroom fixtures, plumbing components, and minor piping issues
- Repair and maintain door hardware, locks, closers, and hinges
- Maintain and replace light fixtures, lamps, and ballasts
- Perform minor electrical and plumbing repairs
- Repair school furniture, classroom equipment, and interior fixtures
- Assist with preventive maintenance of mechanical equipment
- Respond to maintenance work orders across district facilities
- Inspect buildings for safety, functionality, and maintenance needs
Grounds & Exterior Maintenance
- Maintain and repair landscape irrigation systems
- Perform maintenance and safety inspections on playground equipment
- Maintain athletic fields, including turf and surrounding areas
- Assist with parking lot striping and exterior site improvements
- Inspect and repair outdoor lighting and site fixtures
- Perform seasonal grounds work, including snow removal and site cleanup
- Operate and maintain grounds equipment and tools
General Maintenance & District Support
- Perform general building maintenance and repairs as needed
- Support district preventive maintenance programs
- Assist with summer maintenance and facility readiness projects
- Assist contractors with site access and coordination
- Maintain shop organization, tools, and material inventory
Custodial / Janitorial Support (Emergency & Supplemental)
- Provide custodial support during staff shortages, emergencies, or high-demand periods
- Respond to spills, leaks, and sanitation-related issues to ensure a safe environment
- Assist with event setup and teardown, including cleaning and trash removal
- Perform basic cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and restroom checks when needed
Support emergency response efforts related to water intrusion, weather events, or facility incidents
- Experience in building maintenance, grounds maintenance, or related field preferred
- Experience with plumbing fixtures, door hardware, lighting systems, and general repairs
- Knowledge of irrigation systems, playground maintenance, or exterior systems preferred
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve maintenance issues independently
- Ability to operate maintenance tools and grounds equipment
- Ability to lift 50 lbs or more
- Ability to climb ladders and work overhead
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including bending, standing, and equipment operation
- Work performed in school buildings, mechanical spaces, and outdoor environments
- Exposure to varying weather conditions, mechanical equipment, and cleaning materials
- Occasional after-hours or emergency response work may be required
- Valid Colorado Driver’s License
- Acceptable driving record for district vehicle operation
Ability to pass background check per school district requirements
Non-Exempt (Hourly) – eligible for overtime in accordance with state and federal law
