Summary

We are seeking a Maintenance Director to oversee the maintenance operations at First Presbyterian Church in Rochester, MN. This pivotal role is essential in ensuring our facilities are safe, functional, and welcoming for all members and visitors. The Maintenance Director will contribute significantly to our mission by maintaining an environment conducive to spiritual growth and community engagement.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all maintenance activities for church facilities.
• Develop and implement maintenance schedules and procedures.
• Supervise janitorial and building security staff.
• Oversee grounds maintenance and snow removal by staff and contractors.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.
• Oversee HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical, fire/safety systems, and other facility-related functions.
• Act as the primary contact for facilities-related emergencies.
• Manage budgets related to maintenance operations.
• Attend and report at the monthly Building and Grounds Committee meeting.
• Collaborate with church leadership on facility improvements and projects.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs.
• Other responsibilities as assigned by the chief of staff or Building and Grounds Committee.

Qualifications

• Boiler license (special or higher) preferred. The ability to achieve the Special License within 6 months is acceptable.
• Knowledge of HVAC systems, mechanical systems, and general maintenance practices.
• Proven experience in facilities management.
• Strong supervisory skills with a track record of leading teams effectively.
• Excellent communication skills in English.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups within the church community.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 25 per week
