Maintenance of building and equipment at J. Strom Thurmond Lake and Dam. The scope of work will vary based on season and need but will include the following basic skills: Basic Electrical Installation/Repairs, Plumbing, Light Carpentry, Roofing, Painting, Minor Mechanical Repair, Operation of Construction-Type Equipment, such as Track Steer, Excavator, Man-Lift and Ditch-Witch & Welding. This job may also require working on or around water--maintaining navigational aides/markers.
Responsibilities
Provide assistance with the following:
- Performance of preventative maintenance tasks.
- Troubleshooting reported problems and resolving them in a timely manner
- Performing thorough maintenance on machinery, equipment and systems.
- Cleaning and lubrication of HVAC systems, including filter changes.
- Basic electrical repairs and replacements: Lighting, Circuit Breakers, Switches, Outlets & other Devices.
- Basic plumbing repairs: Toilets, Valves, Broken water and drain piping.
- Undertake other duties as assigned
- Keep logs of work and report on issues
Skills
- General Construction knowledge.
- Knowledge of power tools and equipment.
- Knowledge of instrumentation (Electrical Multimeter, Temperature and Pressure Gauges)
- Must be able to read a tape measure and use basic construction tools.
- Aptitude in using various hand tools (screwdrivers, hammers etc.) and precision measurement tools (e.g. calipers)
- Ability to follow established procedures and practices and read instruction, blueprints etc.
- A strong commitment to all health and safety guidelines
- Very good communication skills
- A problem-solving ability
- Very good physical strength and stamina
- High school diploma is preferred; Certification from a vocational school or completion of apprenticeship is a definite plus.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $17.50 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 30 per week
