Facilities Maintenance (New Haven, CT)

Location: New Haven, CT

Parents' Foundation for Transitional Living, Inc. is a private, nonprofit mental health residential community dedicated to the recovery of adults with serious and persistent mental illness such as schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorder, depression and anxiety disorder.

We are seeking a part-time Facilities Maintenance staff person that would be responsible for the day to day operation of the facility as it relates to the physical plant in compliance with all regulatory standards. The ideal candidate for this role would have facilities experience and a desire to provide a safe and sanitary environment for patrons.

Responsibilities:

  • Addresses and identifies repair needs such as light bulb replacement, plumbing, painting or carpentry work.
  • Makes daily rounds of floors and offices for inspection of equipment and proper functioning.
  • Performs janitorial work as needed.
  • Unclogs and snakes drains as needed.
  • Replaces and fixes locks as needed.
  • Puts away large deliveries, assembles furniture as needed.
  • Maintains the grounds and the parking lot.
  • Seasonal landscaping as required, which includes snow removal, raking and general outdoor property maintenance
  • Special project work as assigned

Requirements:

  • Ability to use power tools, landscaping equipment, and other household equipment.
  • MUST have experience and knowledge in general carpentry, plumbing, electrical and painting.
  • A clear driver’s record is required to operate Company vehicle
  • Demonstrates respect and understanding in all interactions with residents, supervisors and employees
  • Flexibility and attention to detail
  • Minimum 3 years facilities experience
  • Moderate to heavy lifting required.

Hours will be M-F from 9AM-1PM.
