Facilities Maintenance Specialist - Part Time

Overview:

St. Francis in-the-Field Episcopal Church seeks a skilled, hands-on Facilities Maintenance Specialist to care for our church campus through direct maintenance work and project coordination. This role is perfect for someone who takes pride in maintaining beautiful, functional spaces and enjoys the variety of working both independently and alongside contractors.

Primary Responsibilities:

Hands-On Maintenance (70-80% of role):

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs including carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, and general handyman tasks
• Maintain church grounds including landscaping support, parking areas, and exterior building upkeep
• Conduct preventative maintenance on HVAC systems, lighting, plumbing fixtures, and building systems
• Address maintenance requests and emergency repairs promptly

Inspection & Planning (20-30% of role):

• Conduct regular property inspections to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns
• Coordinate with outside vendors for specialized repairs and major projects
• Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment
• Keep records of maintenance activities and schedules

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in building maintenance, facilities work, or skilled trades
• Strong troubleshooting abilities and general handyman skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Physical ability to lift 50+ pounds, work on ladders, and perform manual labor
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Respectful of church environment and mission

Preferred:

• Experience with church or institutional facilities
• Basic knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems
• Familiarity with grounds maintenance equipment

This position is NOT primarily supervisory or administrative - we're seeking someone who enjoys hands-on work and takes ownership of maintaining our campus to the highest standards.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
