Position Overview:
The Facilities Maintenance Technician II is responsible for the general maintenance and up-keep of the facilities.
Schedule During Training: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM (8 hours/day, M-F)
Schedule After Training: Hours are 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM with overtime potential. Set schedule TBD, may require some weekend coverage.
Essential Functions:
- Hands-on general building and facilities (commercial) maintenance
- General carpentry repairs (drywall, painting, wall finishing, trim, and door repairs)
- Trouble shooting, minor repairs and installation of food manufacturing equipment
- Change lamps, ballasts, switches, and receptacles; basic electrical troubleshooting
- Perform minor plumbing maintenance/repairs, unclog drains, repair leaks, sweating pipes, and replace fixtures
- Grid ceiling repairs and upkeep
- HVAC preventative maintenance and minor HVAC troubleshooting and repair; understanding of compressors (air compressor, water heaters)
- Installation of FRP (Fiber Reinforced Polymer)
- Troubleshooting, diagnosing and problem solving of facility equipment
- Escorting contractors working on site
- Performs tasks in a professional and timely manner
- Performs tasks while maintaining a food safe work environment by abiding all GMPs and company policies
- Other duties as assigned
Experience, Skills, Knowledge & Education Required:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in advanced facility repairs in a manufacturing environment
- Carpentry - Drywall repair, painting, wall finishing, etc.
- Basic electrical skills - able to safely use and read a digital multimeter to check for power (voltage), continuity, amps, and resistance. Able to safely wire a plug and receptacle for 110 to 480v
- Basic plumbing skills – able to install 1/2” to 1” copper and/or pex via either soldering, compression, and/or push to connect fittings
- Mechanical aptitude, able to use hand tools and portable power tools (ex. drills, anchor guns, saws-all, porta bands, grinders)
- Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision
- Versed in industrial safety PPE - Gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection
- Some food industry experience (manufacturing food production—not cooking/food prep)
- General Safety and OSHA knowledge
- High School degree or equivalent is required
- Intermediate computer skills – including Outlook/Teams, MS Office Suite (Office 365), ERP/CMMS (computerized work order systems), locating/updating manuals in company server and online.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Not required but a plus:
- Power Industrial truck experience including electric pallet Jacks, walkie stackers, aerial lifts and forklift experience
- General knowledge of Federal and/or State building code (structural, fire, and mechanical)
- General knowledge of National Electric Code (NEC)
- General knowledge of International Plumbing Code (IPC)
- Knowledge of Food Manufacturing or cGMP’s
- Knowledge and application of Lock Out Tagout principals
- Experience in working with computerized maintenance systems
- Fluent in Spanish or any other language.
Physical/Mental Essential Requirements:
- Able to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lb regularly, up to 90 pounds occasionally, and recognize when a team-lift is required
- Able to stand on concrete for extended periods of time (8-10 hours per day): One 30-minute break, two 15-minute breaks
- Able to observe and read equipment information tags often in poor condition and/or small print/engraving
- Able to reach overhead, bend, stoop, and squat, and climb ladders
- Able to work in tight places, in restricted positions, or on a ladder safely
- Able to operate portable power tools as described in the job description
- Able to report to work without absences or tardiness
- Able to work overtime as necessary
- Able to work at a fast pace to maintain a steady and even workflow
- Good manual dexterity (including fine manipulation) and capable of performing repeated actions with hands/fingers
- Able to work in hot, cool, and/or wet conditions for duration of the shift.
- Comfortable with a moderate noise level
- Regular exposure to the “Big 9” food allergens: milk, eggs, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, soybeans, and sesame
- Able to comply with company food safety and human safety guidelines within reasonable accommodations guidelines including any medications that may impair or inhibit balance, vision, hearing, judgment, etc that may put yourself, others, or food safety at risk
- Able to wear appropriate provided attire: smock, hair/beard net(s), latex-free gloves)
- Able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment such as eye protection, non-slip shoes with toe protection, high visibility vest/jacket at all times while on shift
- Ability to reason logically and make sound decisions, to communicate effectively orally, in writing, and digital communication
- Able to pivot between tasks as needed efficiently and return with accuracy, able to work effectively and efficiently in high stress situations while maintaining attention to detail and documentation
- Ability to address multiple complex problems daily
- Able to understand, remember, and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to perform in situations requiring speed and/or deadlines
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay depends on experience, $26 - $30 per hour
