Primary Work Location:
MULTISITE: Multisite staff work across several program locations throughout Alameda County, providing care and support wherever it is most needed. These sites offer a range of services, including post-hospitalization medically supported shelter, medical respite care, skilled nursing, and caregiving support.
Job Summary:
The Facilities Manager oversees the upkeep, maintenance, and safety of multiple large transitional housing facilities across Alameda County. This critical role ensures that each site's physical environment is safe, functional, and well-maintained, directly supporting the provision of high-quality care and services for people experiencing homelessness with complex medical needs. The Facilities Manager is a key contributor to our mission and will lead a team of facilities and maintenance staff.
Multi-Site Facilities Management: Oversee the daily operations, maintenance, and upkeep for all assigned transitional housing facilities. Develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance schedule for routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and prompt repairs across multiple sites
Property Owner and Lease Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for property owners and landlords in leased sites. Manage lease obligations and ensure the organization complies with all terms, including maintenance responsibilities, communication protocols, accounts management, utilities and repair cost agreements, and any other related items
Team Leadership & Supervision: Manage and lead a team of facilities and maintenance professionals. This includes recruiting, training, and supervising staff; conducting performance evaluations; and fostering a collaborative, efficient, and professional work environment Develop and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for maintenance and facilities operations at each site
Contractor and Vendor Management: Coordinate with external contractors, service providers, and vendors for specialized repairs, maintenance, and new projects. Manage contracts, negotiate terms, and ensure all work meets quality standards and is completed on schedule
Safety and Compliance: Conduct regular facility safety inspections and audits at all sites, promptly addressing any potential hazards. Ensure all facilities and equipment comply with federal, state, and local safety regulations and building codes. Maintain up-to-date records of all inspections, maintenance activities, and compliance documentation
Budget and Resource Management: Develop, manage, and monitor the facilities budget for all sites, ensuring cost-effective use of resources. Oversee inventory levels of maintenance supplies and equipment, managing ordering and stocking to ensure adequate supplies are always available
Emergency Preparedness and Response: Lead the facilities component of site safety and emergency prevention and response plans for incidents like fires, floods, or equipment failures. Be available to coordinate emergency responses as needed
General Maintenance and Repairs: Oversee routine maintenance tasks, including minor plumbing, electrical, and HVAC repairs. Ensure all facility areas, including common spaces, resident rooms, clinical areas, and offices, are in excellent repair. Ensure all maintenance requests from staff and residents are addressed and tracked in a timely and efficient manner
Sustainability Initiatives: Identify, evaluate, and implement environmentally sustainable practices across all facilities, such as energy conservation, water reduction, and waste management
Minimum Required Skills & Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certifications in facilities management or maintenance is strongly preferred
Proven experience in a facilities management role, including direct experience overseeing maintenance across multiple large sites
Strong understanding of safety regulations, building codes, and maintenance best practices.
Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and individuals
Must be self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision.
Must have personal, reliable transportation to travel to and from work sites in Alameda County
Authorization to live and work in the U.S. and at least 18 years of age.

Work Environment:
This position will require traveling to other office locations or off-site meetings as required
This position will require a consistent on-site presence
