Job Summary

The Facilities Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of the site’s critical building systems and infrastructure, including HVAC, electrical systems, utilities (CPU and USP water systems), and other facility-related equipment. This role provides daily leadership to electricians, HVAC technicians, and maintenance personnel, ensuring preventive and corrective maintenance programs are executed to support uninterrupted production and compliance with FDA, OSHA, and EPA requirements.

The Supervisor drives continual improvement of facilities systems, manages projects that support new business and site expansion, and ensures compliance with corporate, state, and federal guidelines. This individual must maintain a strong floor presence and partner cross-functionally with Operations, Quality, Engineering, and Safety teams to sustain a safe and reliable manufacturing environment.

Essential Job Functions

  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of HVAC, electricians, utilities (CPU/USP), and other maintenance staff.
  • Ensure proper operation, maintenance, and repair of building systems including HVAC, boilers, chillers, compressed air, purified water, and electrical distribution.
  • Oversee preventive maintenance programs in SAP; ensure compliance with schedules and documentation requirements.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for facility systems, including HVAC controls, electrical systems, and water utilities.
  • Monitor, analyze, and interpret downtime, energy usage, and performance data to implement system improvements.
  • Maintain validated state of critical utilities impacting product quality (CPU/USP water systems).
  • Ensure all safety devices, interlocks, and machine guards are functional and that LOTO procedures are followed.
  • Support capital and facility improvement projects, providing scope input, contractor oversight, and budget accountability.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with cross-functional teams to support production schedules and facility reliability.
  • Participate in recruiting, training, and performance management of maintenance team members.
  • Ensure compliance with cGMPs, PPGs, FDA, OSHA, and EPA standards.
  • Champion 5S and lean facility management practices.

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • BS/BA in Engineering, Facilities Management, or related field preferred. Equivalent experience considered.
  • 3–5 years supervisory experience in facilities, utilities, or maintenance leadership within a regulated manufacturing environment (pharmaceutical, cosmetic, consumer goods preferred).
  • Journeyman’s card, electrical certification, or HVAC certification strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical distribution, water purification (CPU/USP), and facility utilities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong leadership and people management skills; ability to coach, develop, and motivate technical staff.
  • Effective communicator with ability to collaborate across multiple levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated experience with preventive maintenance systems (SAP preferred).
  • Results-driven with knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
  • Ability to ensure compliance in FDA/ISO controlled environments.
