Location: Seattle Goodwill Admin Building
FLSA Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt
Hourly Rate: $21.30 - $24.50, depending on experience
About the Position

The Facilities Technician I assists in the day-to-day operations and assume responsibility for maintaining the conditions of Evergreen Goodwill stores, properties and equipment.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.
  • Performs a wide variety of general building maintenance repairs and services.
  • Install light bulbs, ballasts, countertops, tile, door hardware, carpet, bulletin boards and fixtures; drywall repair, hang pictures; assemble furniture etc.
  • Maintain and repair light fixtures, receptacles and switches, replaces light bulbs; generators and motors; oil and clean motors; troubleshoot and make electrical repairs not requiring a license; maintain and make minor repairs to various types of heating, refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment, pumps, fans, humidifiers, electric motors, and heat exchangers, and other components.
  • Paint interior and exterior walls and surfaces.
  • Replace washers, faucets and seals on malfunctioning plumbing equipment; repair leaky faucets and clean clogged drains; install and repair toilets.
  • Perform basic repair welding: Mig, Oxy Acetylene, Tig etc.
  • Performs ground maintenance including picking up trash, maintaining landscaping beds and other grounds maintenance.
  • Operate light trucks/ other vehicles and equipment: Work vans, forklifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts, and towing equipment.
  • Notifies management of any unusual occurrence and/or damage that has taken place or that may occur.
  • Complete timely and accurate expense reports.
  • Provide customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Maintains tools and equipment in safe, clean and proper working conditions.
  • Demonstrates safe work practices through awareness and observation in support of a safety culture; reports any potential hazards or accidents.
  • Assist in managing maintenance inventory keep-stock, supply, part, and material needs.
  • Maintain monthly inspection and maintenance of building HVAC filters.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED or technical training certificate or equivalent experience.
  • Preferred minimum 6 months or more experience or equivalent training.
  • Basic understanding of maintenance work, tools and equipment.
  • Ability to demonstrate professionalism and work independently. Has strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team repairing items and processing work orders.
Certificates, Licenses, or Registrations:
  • Must have valid WA State driver’s license and proof of good driving record.
  • Tools: Evergreen Goodwill provides tools and supplies necessary to complete essential functions and projects.
Computer/Technology Skills:
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
  • Ability to learn new technology and software as related to the job.
Physical Abilities:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to lift and carry up to 50 pounds; have developed fine motor control (grasp, handle, manipulate objects with fingers; standing for long periods, frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, stooping, squatting, pushing; climbing ladders; able to travel across a variety of surfaces (stairs, ramps, uneven terrain). Ability to operate computer systems. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Able to communicate with others effectively both verbally and written, including those who have limited English skills. Maintain reliable attendance.

Work Environment: Varying temperatures and noise levels. Exposure to chemicals and industrial hazards and dust. Workers must follow safety precautions and use protective equipment such as hardhats, safety glasses and hearing protectors. Must be able to work a flexible schedule as position requires on call status, night shifts and weekends as required. Must have reliable transportation.
