Position Title: Facility Equipment and Maintenance Coordinator (FEMC)

Location: Social Security Administration (SSA)- National Records Center (Independence, MO)

Pay Range: $27.52 + $6.30 (H &W) Hourly

Position Summary

The FEMC shall be responsible for the maintenance and repair of government furnished equipment, (GFE) and structural surveillance of furniture and fixtures used in, or related to, the day-to-day performance of the contract and the operations of the SSA NRC. Some specific duties include:

· Responsible for maintenance and repair of certain government furnished equipment and certain structural fixtures and furniture used in or related to day-to-day performance of the contract and the operation of the NRC facility.

· Responsible for the proper operation of the equipment used in performance of the contract and operation of the NRC facility.

· Ensure structural soundness of the catwalk, handrails, etc. Examine and identify areas of the catwalk which contain nuts, bolts, and/or any other parts which may need to be tightened. Tighten nuts and bolts as necessary.

· Maintain a routine inspection and maintenance schedule for the entire NRC facility catwalk system.

· Responsible for the safety of facility occupants and the integrity of the structure.

· Responsible for proper lighting and temperature control. Inspect each room for damaged lights and/or lights which need replaced monthly and provide follow-up to SSA if issue is not resolved.

· Responsible for adequate supply inventories to be maintained at proper levels.

· Notify the government project officer (GPO) or his/her designee if any government-furnished equipment such as photocopiers, fax machines, telephones, computer equipment, etc are not operating properly. Do not perform maintenance or repair services.

· Report any fire extinguishers for which the inspection is overdue and/or the equipment appears to be in a questionable state.

· Ensure the government “golf carts” are always fully charged and the tires properly inflated.

· Routinely evaluate the condition of all non-motorized/non-electric moving devices (such as streamliners, shopping carts), other forms of carts used at the NRC.

· Repair all such equipment as necessary and maintain all repairs, identifying and repairing, replacing parts, and greasing wheels etc.

· Ensure all forklifts are properly charged.

· Inspect forklifts and report any need for repairs or maintenance. Forklifts are covered by a 3rd party maintenance agreement; therefore, the FEMC shall not perform repairs on this equipment.

· Maintain a tracking/reporting system for all NRC repairs.

· Oversee and/or assist in the movement of any furniture related to the performance of the contract.

· The FEMC will not be required to perform maintenance/repair services on any equipment under warranty or covered by a 3rd party maintenance agreement.

· SSA will provide all necessary parts and/or tools.

· Other Duties as assigned

Education, Certification & Experience Requirements

· Experience to perform visual inspections of certain GFE, and interior structural components (e.g., catwalks, handrails, etc.)

· Ability to perform periodic facility wide equipment inventories and generate report.

· Experience managing property control systems or inventory control systems.

· History of strict compliance with personally identifiable information (PII) and facility security requirements.

· Ability to perform maintenance repair service on minor facility structures/equipment at the facility

· Ability to maintain tracking /reporting system for all NRC repairs using Excel software.

· Ability to follow-up on resolved/unresolved issues in a timely manner.

· Ability to communicate and work in team environment.

· Strong customer relations skills are a must. Interacts directly with clients.

· Ability to train co-workers in safe practices, and function (e.g., presentations, training).

· Ability to write concise weekly report of FEMC activities (contract deliverables) and email to appropriate personnel.

· Ability to oversee and/or assist in the movement of any furniture related to performance of the contract.

· Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Qualification Standards

· Must meet standards of Post Offer Essential Functions (POET) test including drug test

· Two to three years of comparable working experience preferred.

· High School graduate or GED equivalent.

· Data entry to generate reports.

· Computer experience to generate and email reports using MS Outlook, Microsoft Excel and Word software.

· Supervisory history a plus.

· OSHA-10 level knowledge and work history preferable.

· Experienced forklift/hand truck operator. Must be able to obtain OSHA level certification within the first month of employment.

· Read, write and communicate using English language sufficient to perform job functions (other preferences will be given for special language skills when there is a business need).

· Applicants must pass pre-employment background check(s) and security clearance and may be rejected if an interview or background check reveals that the applicant has been convicted of a felony or offense against property such as receipt of stolen property, larceny, embezzlement, burglary or similar convictions

Physical Job Requirements

· Ability to move throughout all areas of the site location including up and down stairs and on the catwalk

· Stand and/or sit continuously and perform job functions for a full shift with meal break.

· Ability to push and pull loaded carts approximately 1 mile.

· Working safe requires the ability to use both hands.

· Frequent overhead lifting of 35 lbs. or less.

· Physically able to stand, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist, lift, push, pull, climb, balance, crouch, handle and move items weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.

· Visual acuity corrected to perform job functions. Ability to distinguish color to perform job functions.

Work Schedule

· Normal scheduled work week is Monday through Friday; however, the position may occasionally require morning, afternoon and evening availability any day of the week.

· Hourly employees: generally scheduled for 40 hours; overtime hours may be required based on the needs of the company.
