Position Overview:
The Factory Head – Furniture Manufacturing will oversee end-to-end operations of the Future Factory, ensuring smooth, efficient, and quality-driven production of furniture products. This role demands strong leadership in modern furniture manufacturing processes, lean management, automation, material optimization, and team development. The incumbent will lead production planning, process engineering, quality control, procurement alignment, and maintenance to achieve organizational excellence in output, innovation, and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Operations Management
- Develop and execute the factory’s annual production strategy aligned with business goals.
- Oversee all production operations — cutting, assembling, finishing, upholstery, and packaging.
- Drive implementation of lean manufacturing, 5S, and Kaizen principles.
- Introduce automation and smart manufacturing practices for enhanced efficiency.
2. Production & Process Excellence
- Plan and monitor daily, weekly, and monthly production targets across all furniture product lines (wood, metal, modular, and upholstered).
- Ensure timely and cost-effective production while maintaining top-tier craftsmanship and design accuracy.
- Standardize processes for CNC operations, lamination, polishing, and joinery techniques.
- Oversee raw material utilization, wastage control, and yield improvement.
3. Quality & Compliance
- Lead implementation of Quality Management Systems (QMS) specific to furniture manufacturing.
- Ensure compliance with product design specifications, ergonomic standards, and export quality benchmarks.
- Conduct routine audits and process inspections for material quality, finish, and durability.
- Collaborate with R&D and Design departments to translate prototypes into scalable production.
4. People & Resource Leadership
- Lead and mentor production managers, supervisors, and technical staff across departments.
- Build a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct skill development and training programs on modern furniture production techniques.
- Manage workforce planning and shift scheduling to meet demand fluctuations.
5. Supply Chain & Maintenance Coordination
- Collaborate with procurement for timely availability of hardware, MDF, veneer, fabric, and accessories.
- Oversee maintenance of CNC machines, panel saws, edge banders, hydraulic presses, and finishing booths.
- Implement predictive maintenance programs to minimize downtime.
- Coordinate logistics for inbound materials and outbound finished goods.
6. Cost, Safety & Sustainability
- Monitor production cost KPIs: yield, labor efficiency, and energy usage.
- Lead initiatives for waste reduction and material recycling.
- Ensure workplace safety standards, EHS compliance, and ergonomically safe practices.
- Promote use of sustainable materials and eco-friendly finishing solutions.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: B.E / B.Tech in Industrial, Mechanical, or Furniture Manufacturing Engineering. MBA in Operations will be a plus.
- Experience: Minimum 10–15 years in large-scale furniture manufacturing or modular furniture setup, including 5+ years in a leadership role.
- Technical Expertise:
- CNC machining, panel processing, and joinery.
- AutoCAD / SketchUp / ERP-based production systems.
- Familiarity with lean tools, TPM, and production analytics.
