Punahou School is actively recruiting a temporary, full-time English Faculty member for the Fall 2026 semester. The ideal candidate will join a dedicated department that fosters personal and social discovery through the collective practice of reading, writing, speaking, and listening. The English Faculty member will model open-mindedness, collaboration, and a commitment to excellence, and their classes will celebrate the beauty of good literature and the emerging ideas and voices of young writers. The English department works hard to foster a culture of respect for individual talents within a shared departmental vision. Position Details:

• Work Year: 9 Months
• School Year: 2026-2027, Fall Semester
• Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM, Schedule may vary based on operational needs
• Faculty Salary Range*: $29,540 - $59,727- Compensation commensurate with qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in English or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• Three (3) years of experience in teaching English in a high school setting preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to collaborate with colleagues to support student learning and well-being.
• Broad knowledge of traditional and contemporary literary texts.
• Ability and passion for working with a broad range of students.
• Demonstrated mastery of instructional technology in the classroom.
