Hamid D. Habib Chair

Bank Al Habib Ltd (BAHL) has established the endowed Hamid D. Habib Chair at the IBA to bring excellence in teaching and research-related activities in financial services. To achieve this goal, IBA is looking for the ideal candidate who preferably has an international stature and expertise and has demonstrated excellence in the core areas of Finance, as well as innovations in Finance that characterize the current landscape in financial services. The nature of the job requires that the candidate should have a strong academic and research background and robust linkages with the industry and market of financial services. Job description 1. Lead the development of courses in the financial services and employ innovative and contemporary teaching methods. 2. Undertake nationally and internationally recognized research, particularly on the Pakistani financial service industry and markets. 3. Engage in research-led teaching to keep students and faculty abreast on trends in local industry. 4. Liaise with industry practitioners and alumni for indigenous problem identification and curriculum design. 5. Mentor other academic team members and contribute to the overall leadership of the Endowment Fund for the effective engagement with the industry. 6. Coordinate with the donor organization in liaison with IBA faculty and students to identify opportunities for fund allocation. Job Specification: • PhD or a terminal doctorate degree from an internationally renowned university. • Excellent academic achievements, documented by internationally recognized publications. • Track record of collaborative research and successful supervision. Competencies: • Excellent teaching ability at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. • Ability to develop and employ pedagogical innovations and design curriculum • Excellent communication skills (oral, written, presentation). • Proficiency in English (oral and written). The terms and conditions will be commensurate with the credentials and experience of the candidate and would be close to international rates for such positions. IBA will offer academic rank as per the criteria set out by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan and IBA hiring policy.
