Canadian University Dubai invites applications for full time faculty positions in the School of Communication and Creative Industries. The School seeks research active academics with strong teaching capability, relevant professional or industry engagement, and the ability to contribute to the continued development of undergraduate programmes and future graduate offerings.
Applications are invited for the following areas:
- Public Relations
- Digital Media and Journalism
- Advertising and Integrated Marketing Communications
- Creative Industries
Multiple appointments may be made across these areas. Appointments will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor, depending on qualifications, academic record, teaching experience, research profile, and institutional needs. Preference will be given to candidates at Associate Professor or Professor level.
Role
The successful candidates will teach undergraduate courses across the School's programmes, including the BA in Communication with concentrations in Public Relations, Digital Media and Journalism, and Advertising and Integrated Marketing Communications, as well as courses related to Creative Industries.
Faculty members will be expected to contribute to curriculum development, student advising, research and scholarly activity, programme quality enhancement, accreditation readiness, industry engagement, and service to the School and University. Candidates should also be able to support the School's strategic priorities, including the development of graduate level programmes in communication and related fields.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate courses in their area of specialisation.
- Contribute to the development and review of curricula, course materials, assessments, and learning outcomes.
- Maintain an active research agenda with evidence of scholarly productivity.
- Support student advising, mentoring, and supervision of student projects.
- Contribute to programme development, accreditation requirements, and quality assurance activities.
- Participate in School, faculty, and university committees.
- Support industry engagement, professional partnerships, and applied learning opportunities.
- Contribute to a collegial, inclusive, and professionally engaged academic environment.
Required Qualifications
- A PhD from an accredited university in Communication, Media Studies, Journalism, Public Relations, Advertising, Integrated Marketing Communications, Creative Industries, Digital Media, or a closely related field.
- A minimum of three years of teaching experience in higher education.
- Evidence of research activity and a clear scholarly agenda.
- Ability to teach across undergraduate courses in one or more of the advertised areas.
- Excellent communication skills in English.
- Commitment to student centred teaching, academic advising, and institutional service.
Preferred Qualifications
- A record of publications in reputable peer reviewed journals.
- Experience teaching or supervising at graduate level.
- Relevant industry or professional experience in communication, media, journalism, advertising, public relations, digital production, or creative industries.
- Experience in curriculum development, accreditation, programme review, or quality assurance.
- Evidence of successful student engagement, applied learning, industry partnerships, or media production projects.
- Ability to teach across more than one specialisation.
