The Mercer University School of Engineering (MUSE) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Software Engineering starting August 2026.
Responsibilities:
Candidates are sought to enhance the Department’s focus on emerging technologies in Software Engineering, particularly with expertise, scholarly interest, and an excellent capacity for teaching and research in multiple areas within Software Engineering, such as software design and construction, requirements analysis, security, verification and validation, and software engineering processes. The successful candidate for the position must be able and willing to teach software engineering courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels as necessary. Tenure will be based on excellence in teaching, comprehensive scholarship, and service. The School provides master’s degrees in Software Engineering (SSE), Software Systems (SSE), and Cybersecurity (CYS).
Qualifications:
A minimum of an earned Ph.D. in Software Engineering, Computer Science (with an emphasis in Software Engineering), Computer Engineering (with an emphasis in Software Engineering), or a related discipline is required (or evidence that the Ph.D. will be complete by August 2026). Preference will be given to candidates with prior teaching experience at the college level and consulting or industrial experience. Experience with professional organizations such as ABET, ASEE, IEEE, ACM, etc., is highly desirable.
Additional Information:
Mercer’s undergraduate engineering program is ABET/EAC-accredited using a general curriculum model. The School of Engineering offers both Bachelor's and Master of Science in Engineering degrees with specializations in biomedical, civil, computer, electrical, environmental, industrial, and mechanical, as well as engineering-related programs in cybersecurity, human-centered information design, and industrial management. The undergraduate curriculum is dynamic, innovative, and broadly based and includes the option of an integrated BSE/MSE degree program for qualified candidates. Total engineering enrollment is over 700 students.
