Family Advocate (Wasilla Head Start) - To assist in integrating parent and family engagement strategies
into all systems and program services to support family well-being and promote children’s learning and
development. Work with other staff and directly with families on a family partnership process and providing
a full range services and referrals. Assist families in setting and accomplishing goals.

Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED Two years’ experience in family social services setting preferred, including knowledge and experience

relating to community resources for referrals to families in need of servicesDegree in Human Services, Psychology, or related field that includes coursework in the principles of social

work, child development, counseling, and/or psychology is preferredExcellent written and verbal communication skillsSkilled in communicating with and motivating peopleAbility to set and maintain professional boundaries with familiesKnowledge of community resources and the skills to link families with appropriate agencies and servicesKnowledge of adult learning principles and family dynamicsKnowledge and ability to work with families using the Family Centered, Strength-Based approachKnowledge of child developmentAbility and desire to work with families of all socio-economic levels and their young children at the Center

and in the homeAbility to work as team member with staff and parentsGood organization skills and timely, accurate documentationAbility to lift and carry 50 pounds Capable of getting up and down from the floor with easeCan stand and/or sit for extended periods of time interchangeablyFlexibility to work additional hours appreciatedClear any current CCS Insurance Policy Requirements to be an Insured DriverValid Alaska Driver's License, current auto insurance and a good driving record

Post-hire: Maintained Background Check
Annual Physical/Health History

CPR and First Aid Certification
Food Worker Card
Current Alaska Driver’s License and auto insurance


GENERAL INFORMATION:

Location: Wasilla Head Start
Supervisor: Family Partnership Coordinator
Schedule: Full Time / Full Year (35 hrs/wk for 45 weeks)
Salary: $19.98-$27.78 per hour DOE/E
