Family Assistant (Afternoons)

Location: Matthews / Indian Trail / Monroe, NC (local applicants preferred)

Schedule:
Monday–Thursday afternoons (generally between 2:00 PM – 7:00 PM)

The schedule varies slightly day-to-day based on sports and activities. Some days may start earlier (around 2:00 PM) and others later (around 3:30–4:00 PM), with end times typically between 6:00–7:00 PM.

The overall weekly schedule is consistent, but daily timing is driven by school dismissal and practice schedules.

About the Role:

We are an active family looking for a reliable and self-motivated Family Assistant to help keep our afternoons running smoothly.

This role is centered around school pickup, transportation to after-school sports, and light household support during busy activity hours.

This is not a babysitting position. A parent works from home and is present. The role is focused on helping manage the afternoon routine and keeping the home organized during that time.

We have three children (ages 7, 12, and 14) who are involved in sports throughout the week. School, home, and activity locations are all within a few miles, making driving very manageable.

Key Responsibilities:

• School pickup and transportation to after-school sports and activities
• Coordinating timing between school dismissal and activities
• Laundry: washing, folding, and putting away
• Light housekeeping: dishes, wiping surfaces, tidying shared spaces
• Simple meal prep: packing lunches or preparing light dinners/snacks
• Occasional errands (groceries, dry cleaning, etc.)

What a Typical Week Looks Like:

Some days involve back-to-back pickups and drop-offs, while others have gaps between activities.

During those gaps, you may:

• Run a quick load of laundry
• Load / unload dishwasher
• Tidy shared spaces (kitchen, mudroom, living room)
• Complete a small organization task or household reset

All driving is local and within a short distance, so transitions between locations are straightforward.

What We’re Looking For:

• Dependable, punctual, and organized
• Comfortable managing time-sensitive school pickups and activities
• Able to work independently and anticipate household needs
• Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable vehicle
• Comfortable being around school-aged children
• Prior experience supporting a household or family preferred

Reliability and punctuality are especially important, as sports and activities begin at specific times.

Compensation:

$25–$27 per hour
Expected hours: about 15 hours per week

We are open to either an hourly structure or a consistent weekly flat rate, depending on your preference.

For reference, during the school year the role averages around 15 hours per week, with a typical weekly rate of approximately $400. Summer hours are lighter and can be adjusted accordingly.
