JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Family Engagement/ERSEA Specialist PROGRAM: Head Start
CLASS: Non- Exempt REPORTS TO: Family and Community Manager
JOB SUMMARY: Family Engagement/ERSEA Specialist who supports Head Start families in making choices and decisions, and taking actions that will improve the conditions and quality of life for all family members; creates opportunities for meaningful family engagement with Head Start for all families, uses a case management approach to share information with families regarding resources, program options, sources of professional and parental support, and ways of accessing resources within the community; recruits Head Start children, and links families with services such as health, disabilities, nutrition, social services/mental health, and family engagement services to also assist ERSEA Manager with Public Relations and Recruitment
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:1. To assist with:
a) home visits, as needed.
b) record keeping and maintaining confidentiality.
c) workshop training, as scheduled.
d) meetings and activities, as scheduled.
e) computer management of specific areas relative to these components.
f) assist with recruitment and engaging Fathers within the Fatherhood Program
g) Developing content for and coordinating group educational and support activities including programs and classes using the Fatherhood curricula, as well as other tools and frameworks within Parent Engagement.
2. To assist within the Family Engagement Service area to serve all nine counties.
3. Attend training, as scheduled, in local and other areas.
4. Assist with recruiting volunteers within the Head Start families and community.
5. Work with staff members to assure that the needs of the Family and Community Partnerships Service Area is met.
6. Encourage parent participation in the classroom in special activities, in active learning experiences and socialization.
7. Monitor data systems and provide results to content area managers consultants to ensure compliance
8. Conduct visits and share observations/findings of site visits with supervisor and content managers
9. Provide support and coordination for parent orientations
10. Support direct service staff in documentation and proper use of the child and family database.
11. Assist in data inputting, as needed on a priority basis.
12. Assist with recruitment and enrollment in the 9 county service areas.
13. Monitor integrated folders for completion and accuracy.
14. Assist in ERSEA trainings for policy council, board, and staff
15. Assist with coordinating public relation activities.
16. Assist with Community Assessment
17. Travel to all centers, as necessary
18. Perform all other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Related Associate Degree or Bachelor Degree in Sociology, Psychology, or Early Childhood Education, or equivalent training and/or experience.
2. Must relate well to children and families and be able to communicate well with service providers and families.
3. Must be cooperative and display a positive attitude toward working as a team with other staff members.
4. Must have empathy for children and low-income families.
5. Must understand and respect confidential information regarding the children, families, and the program.
