What You’ll Do

  • Manage a tailored caseload of family law matters under supervision, including custody, temporary orders, support, divorce, and related issues.
  • Handle emergency relief (TROs, ex parte hearings) and prepare motions, declarations, discovery, and trial materials.
  • Lead client intake, safety triage, client counseling, settlement negotiations, mediation, and court appearances.
  • Draft parenting plans and enforceable orders focused on practical, child-centered solutions.
  • Coordinate with therapists, custody evaluators, and community resources.
  • Communicate proactively with clients so they always know the next steps.
  • Contribute to a positive client experience by being empathetic, professional, and responsive.

Employment Type: Full-time Salary Range: $60,000 - $80,000 (based on qualifications and experience).

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional client service: responsive, compassionate, and proactive communication.
  • Help clients evaluate needs, explore legal options, and develop strategies aligned with their goals.
  • Prepare pleadings, motions, agreements, contracts, and orders under supervision.
  • Demonstrate empathy while maintaining professional focus on legal issues and desired outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively to meet individual, client, and firm goals.
  • Adhere to organizational procedures and deadlines for timely, accurate work.

Qualifications

  • Active North Carolina law license.
  • Commitment to using legal skills to serve clients, children, and families.
  • Strong communication skills, especially in high-emotion situations.
  • Interest in representing clients in hearings, mediations, and trials.
  • Commitment to helping children and families achieve stability through strategic planning and proactive implementation.
  • Ability to manage independent cases and assist on complex matters.
  • Meet established work standards for timekeeping, client communication, document production, and case management.
  • Professional, friendly demeanor that supports a positive workplace culture.
  • Ability to handle matters in Chatham and Orange Counties, NC.
  • NC Notary Public or ability to obtain immediately.
  • Three professional references.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
