A Family Medicine Doctor (Family Physician) is a primary care physician who provides comprehensive healthcare to individuals and families of all ages, from infants to seniors. They diagnose, treat, and help prevent a wide variety of conditions while emphasizing continuity of care and long-term patient relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide routine checkups, physical exams, and preventive care.
- Diagnose and treat acute illnesses (e.g., infections, injuries) and manage chronic diseases (e.g., diabetes, hypertension, asthma).
- Order, interpret, and follow up on diagnostic tests.
- Develop individualized treatment plans for patients of all ages.
- Provide health education on lifestyle, nutrition, and disease prevention.
- Prescribe medications and monitor treatment effectiveness.
- Coordinate care with specialists when necessary.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records.
- Perform minor office procedures (e.g., suturing, joint injections) depending on training.
